Squirrels 07.12.2020

Date: 7th Dec 2020 @ 3:03pm

Welcome to our new learning week.

This week we will be busy painting our Christmas tree decorations for the PTA Christmas bags so remember to purchase these if you would like them (Info has been sent out).  We are also planning to make our gingerbread men biscuits too and then write instructions.....delicious!

Your weekly homework is - spellings, number challenge and reading.

Monday 7th December 2020

All children have a copy of an instruction text in their homework book.  Please read this text every evening to your child. It's really important that they hear an adult reading it to them so they learn it off by heart.  Your child can join in with you as they start to remember the words and actions.  This will help them to write their own instructions about how to make a gingerbread man next week.

Tuesday 8th December 2020

Year 2- you have stuck a sheet in your book (hopefully) to help you practise adding 2 digit numbers and exchanging 10.  Please practise a little bit every night.

Wednesday 9th December 2020

Year 1- Play the Buried Treasure game to practise your Phase 5 graphemes.

Thursday 10th December 2020

New reading books given out today. Spelling test and number challenge tomorrow.

Friday 11th December 2020

I have given new spellings which are common words that  children seem to find tricky when using them in their writing.

Please check if you're child has moved to the next number challenge by checking if there is a new slip in their homework book.

We have started to learn how to write instructions and I have included a set of visual instructions for making a jam sandwich.  Please could you follow the instructions and make a jam sandwich over the weekend.  It would be even better if you verbally model the instructions to your child, for example: First, get the ingredients and equipment. Next get two slices of bread. Then, spread each slice with butter slowly (don't forget advebs). After that, spread the jam on each slice.  Next, put the slices together. After that, cut the sandwich in half carefully. Finally, eat you delicious jam sandwich.

Next week- Christmas jumpers everyday if you wish, otherwise school jumpers please.  Uniform with christmas jumper on Monday, not PE kit. Thanks

Have a lovely weekend!
