Date: 6th Sep 2020 @ 7:07pm

Reception:

Wow, what a fantastic first week you have had in Kitten Class. Mrs Witherall and I are very proud of you. We hope you have a lovely weekend and we look forward to seeing you again on Monday!

On Monday, please come to school in your PE kit. Mrs Austin is looking forward to doing PE with you on Monday afternoon whilst Mr Ross and Miss Cross have a meeting to get lots of fun learning ready for you.

Good morning Kitten Class and grown-ups,

I hope you all had a great weekend and ready for a new week of learning.

I will now be starting a weekly blog which I will add to throughout the week to keep you up to date with anything you may need to know.

Your PE day will be on a Monday afternoon with Mrs Austin. Miss Cross and I will be spending Monday afternoon planning exciting activities for you to do.  You will need to come to school in your PE kit on this day. Please remember some warmer clothes such as a fleece and joggers as PE will be outside as much as possible.

Homework:

Homework will continue to be 20 minutes each evening as last year.

10 minutes of reading your school reading books. This will help you to complete our school 'reading challenge'. Will you be the first to receive your bronze certificate?

5 minutes of phonics using your flashcards, workbook & learning your weekly spellings - Yr 1 only (Spelling Shed)

5 minutes of Maths - counting songs, learning number facts.

You will also receive a Kittens/Squirrels reading bingo sheet with lots of quality books on. The challenge is to see how many you can read before the end of the academic year. You can read these alone, with an adult or listen to them as an audio book. Once you complete your bingo sheet, bring it back to school so we can celebrate!

Named water bottles should come in each day. Water is a great way to keep you hydrated and your brain ready to learn. So please, only water in your bottle.

Homework this week (Yr1 only):

I am in the process of assessing where children are in terms of their phonic skills and reading level. Reading books and weekly spellings will be issued at the end of the week. Today (Monday), your child has brought home their phonic workbook. Each child has been assigned a previous years book to help consolidate previous learning. I will let you know what pages are to be completed each night this week so please do keep checking this page during the week. On a Friday, I will be spending some time with the children looking at their workbook. So please do keep it in their reading folder.
