Date: 21st May 2021 @ 4:40pm

Good morning Kittens!

Welcome to Monday. This our last week together before the half-term holiday! Let's hope we have better weather then!

This week our learning behaviour is enjoy our learning.

Please come to school on Monday in your PE kit but you will be doing some extra PE at the end of the week, so please come in your PE kit on Thursday and Friday too.

This week, we will be thinking about Antarctica and comparing the wildlife to Australia. We are going to look closely at penguins. We will be looking at how to make our own information page. In Maths, we will be thinking about equal sharing.

Homework:

Year 1

Please continue to read at least 5 times a week.

This week's spellings have the following spelling rule - ie can appear at the end of words as well as in the middle of words. You also have three tricky words to spell, here, there, where. Can you spot here in these words? That could help you.

You and your grown-ups might like to look at the Year 1 common exception words that you need to read and write by the end of Year 1. They can be found here. Don't forget In your homework books, I have shown your grown-ups which ones to continue to practise.

In Maths, we are continuing to learn our number bonds. This week we are learning to add 2 numbers using a double knowledge. We will be looking for near doubles. Here is an example: 4 + 5 = ? I know that this sum is near to 4 + 4 which is 8. But then I add 1 more. So it's 9 in total.

Reception

At the bottom of this blog you will find our In school this week overview for our learning last week.

Please continue to read at least 5 times a week.

You might like to play this reading game to help you to see and read the words that include the digraphs and trigraphs we have been learning.

Please continue to learn your tricky words. Ask your grown-ups to look at the link to find some fun ways to help you learn them.

You will find new spellings in your quiz book. Learn them over the week ready for your spelling quiz on Friday.

Let's have a great week of learning!

Best wishes,

Mr Ross :-)
