Adders Friday 22nd May 2020

Date: 21st May 2020 @ 7:29pm

It’s Friday Adders!  We’ve nearly survived another week of home schooling – well done!  Thank you to everyone who has been emailing me their learning – I hope that you have enjoyed this week’s tasks and aren’t finding it too hard to get motivated.  Remember, it doesn’t matter if you haven’t finished everything; just try to keep practising those reading, writing and maths skills so it’s not such a shock to you when we finally return to school.

Please upload a photo on to the Discussion, or email me directly, of your Log Book with your reading for this week so I can add stickers on to the Reading Challenge chart.  I have only received a small handful of photos of this.

This is the learning that I would like you to complete today:

  • Vocabulary Word Mat.  Choose one or two of the following words to find out about and record on the sheet in your printed pack: quarantined, phenomenon, demolition and wilderness.  If you haven’t got any sheets left, draw one out in your homework book.
  • Maths – Y5: Continue with Problem Solving activities from your printed pack; Y6: Continue with Consolidation activities in your printed pack details of these activities are on Monday’s blog.
  • Maths – ED/LW/FD/IF/JL: Classroom Secrets sheets – Geometry: Properties of Shapes.  Continue with completing the Extension/Homework and Discussion Problems (JL, you don’t have these) sheets for the last three topics covered this week: ‘Quadrilaterals’, ‘Lines of Symmetry’ and ‘Symmetric Figures’.
  • Writing – Choose an animal of your choice and think about how it moves, what sounds it makes and the environment that it lives in. Then write a poem based around these ideas – use the types of poem sheet included in your pack. You can illustrate your poem if you want.
  • Science – Life Cycles:  Research a mammal, an insect, an amphibian, a reptile and a bird. Choose one and draw the life cycle of an animal and label the diagram accordingly. How does the life cycle of the chosen animal differ to a human life cycle? The website: www.a-z-animals.com is the website we used in class.
  • Physical Exercise – any activity that is going to give you 60 minutes of exercise.

Have a good day Adders and don’t forget to email me your learning and upload your photos to the Discussion on the website.

Have a lovely half term!
