Copdock Weekly Update 11/12/2020

Christmas performances
As we have been unable to welcome you into school this Christmas, staff and children have been preparing a short video to share with you.  This will be sent out before the end of term so you can share as a family at home.  Look out for the link towards the end of next week.

Christmas Jumpers
The children are invited to wear Christmas jumpers into school all next week.  They will be expected to wear their normal school uniform, but replace their cardigan/sweatshirt with a Christmas jumper each day.  Please note, they will be required to wear their white polo shirt under their Christmas jumper.  KS1 will NOT need PE kits on Monday, nor will Woodpeckers on Friday.  However, KS2 children will need PE kits (NOT Christmas jumpers) on Tuesday, and Foxes will need PE kits again on Thursday (NOT Christmas jumpers).  If your child does not wish to wear a Christmas jumper, they can come into school in their usual uniform.

Tik Tok Update Parentla Controls with Family Pairing Feature
TikTok is used by many teenagers and sometimes children younger than that 13 despite its terms and conditions.  Using the new Family Pairing feature can allow parents to guide their child’s TikTok experience in a safer way.  Features include:
  • Search: Decide what can be searched for. This includes content, users, hashtags, or sounds
  • Screen Time Management: Sets how long your teen can spend on TikTok each day
  • Discoverability: Decide on the account being private (you decide who can see their content) or public (anyone can search and view content)
If you choose to let your child have a Tik Tok account before the age of 13, please see the attached checklist for details on setting up the Family Pairing Feature and information on how to check your child's account to ensure it is managed safely.

Reminder re Pick Up & Drop Off
Just a friendly reminder when collecting your child from school not to arrive too early and to ensure any children (whether they be older or younger siblings) remain with you on the playground if you continue to wait for another child.  Please do not allow your children to run around.  We are doing all we can in school to try to maintain social distancing and would appreciate your support in doing so on the playground.  Once your child has joined you, please leave the playground unless you are waiting for a younger sibling, do not stay to chat.  We have staggered finish times to minimise the number of people on the site at any time.  Also in the mornings, please do not arrive ahead of your time, unless you have older siblings.  Foxes will be let in at 8:45am, Woodpeckers at 8:50am - at which point, Squirrels & Kittens wait on the playground with their parents until they are taken to class at 8:55am.  Please do not leave the playground in the mornings until the children have gone into class - this causes congestion and makes social distancing very tricky as the children make their way to class.  Thank you for your help and support with this.  Everyone's safety is at the forefront of our procedures.

School Photos
If you ordered school photos to be delivered to school, we have quarantined them this week and they should be coming home with your child this evening.

PTA Virtual Christmas Fayre
You may have heard some of the winners announced at our family sharing assembly this afternoon, if not, the attached poster shows the answers and who won what!  Tombola prizes will be sent home in the relevant packages.  These will be sent home next week once they have been compiled and quarantined.  Thank you to the PTA for organising and to everyone who supported the event.  We hope to announce how much was made next week.

Christmas Dinner
Don't forget it's Christmas dinner next week.  KS1 on Wednesday and KS2 on Thursday.  School packed lunches were available to order for KS2 on Wednesday or KS1 on Thursday.  If you have not pre-ordered these, please ensure you send your child in with a packed lunch.

Wreath Raffle
Ellie Roper was drawn out of the pot as the lucky winner of the Christmas Wreath Raffle.  The wreath was kindly donated by Bentley Blooms and helped us to raise £10 for our school.

Contact Details
It is imperative that we have up to date contact details for parents.  Please notify us quickly if you change mobile number, home phone number or address.  In these uncertain times it is even more important that we have up to date email addresses in case we need to contact you over the Christmas holidays.

Mrs Witherall
Some of you may be aware that Mrs Witherall has been off school this week.  Unfortunately, she has been not been very well (not COVID related) and will need some recuperation time to get her back on her feet.  The children have made a special get well soon card which will be sent to her next week.

Compassion
The whole school have also made Christmas cards this week in a special assembly reflecting on our value of 'compassion'.  These have been quarantined for 72 hours and will be sent to residents of our local home and via the church to those living alone during this festive period.  We hope to spread some festive cheer!

Last Day of Term
Please see the email sent out on Wednesday with an important letter regarding the end of term.  Our last day will be Friday as previously advertised.  We will be watching the pantomime from the Wolsey Theatre in the afternoon (with a treat in the interval for those who have requested it).  Therefore next week's family sharing assembly will be held at 9:30am for one week only.
