As we enter the festive season, we are hoping to provide a number of our usual events, although slightly amended.

Christmas Dinner

As mentioned previously, we will be holding Christmas Dinner over 2 days this year.  Kittens and Squirrels will have their Christmas dinner on Wednesday 16th December - this is covered in their universal free school meals HOWEVER we do need to give the kitchen notice of numbers, so please confirm if your child would like this meal by next Friday.  Woodpeckers and Foxes are invited to have Christmas Dinner on Thursday 17th December.  The cost for this is £2.40 and again, we need to know numbersby next Friday please.  Those families in receipt of free school meals do not need to pay for this but will need to confirm numbersto us please.  Packed lunches will need to be provided if the meal is not pre-ordered.  Please see the attached menu (posters also on the noticeboards on site) for details of what is on offer.  On the days that the hot option is not available to your child, a pack up will be offered, but again, we need to know numbers by next Friday.  The pack ups will consist of a cheese or tuna wrap, carrot and cucumber sticks, popcorn and a cupcake.  We will need to know choice of wrap when ordering please.  These will be offered at £2.40 to children in KS2.

Last Day of Term

The last day of term is Friday 18th December which is also Christmas jumper day... OH YES IT IS!!

During the afternoon we are excited to inform you that we will be zooming the Wolsey Theatre into our school for a virtual screening of The Snow Queen.  This will be held in each class bubble.

Whilst we are covering the cost of the panto (oh yes we are!), we are asking for a contribution of £1 if you would like your child to have a traditional interval treat.  We will assume you all wish to take up this last day treat unless you tell us otherwise.  Please complete the slip on the attached letter and return it with the treat money by Friday 11th December to allow us to prepare in advance.  If you require a paper copy of the letter please do ask.

Virtual Christmas Fayre

The PTA are planning a virtual fayre.  There will be 3 bags available to buy - the first will contain a decoration which your child will be making in class.  As the bags get bigger, so do the contents, including 'goes' at the games you would otherwise have played if we'd had our usual fayre.  The bags will be priced accordingly.  Keep an eye out next week for the big launch!

Bags

Whilst we're on the subject of bags, don't forget we have some brilliant kids back packs and shoulder bags available for sale.  100% of the sale goes to the school's funds.  These bags are a really good price and have some fantastic animals on.  If you'd like to see them away from prying eyes, please do get in touch!  Photos of the bags were included on the newsletter in previous weeks.

Christmas Cards

If children wish to send to cards to their school mates this year we are inviting them to bring them in on Mondays and Tuesdays to post in class specific post boxes.  These will be sent home on Fridays once they have been quarantined.  Please ONLY bring cards into school on Mondays and Tuesdays, do not hand them out directly to people but put them in the post boxes to be distributed later that week.  Thank you for your cooperation.

Ofsted Visit

This week we have been engaged in a remote visit from Ofsted.  Their focus was on behaviour, attendance, safeguarding and curriculum since returning to school in September.  The purpose of the visit was part of some research to inform the national picture around schools during the Covid-19 pandemic.  It gave us an opportunity to share our practice and positives of children's learning and parental engagement.  In about 10 days we should receive a brief summary from them in the form of a letter that we can share with you at that point.

Families Magazine

Please follow the link to the latest digital edition of Families Suffolk Magazine https://bit.ly/FamiliesSuffolkNov_Dec20 this would normally be sent out in hard copy.
