Copdock Weekly Update 25/06/2021

Class Photos

Next Tuesday will be our annual class photos - please come in smart uniform and big smiles!  The local newspaper has also requested a First Class and Top Class photograph so look out in the press for their supplements containing our class pictures.

Sports Day

Next Thursday is our sports day, please ensure you have read the letter sent out and also available on our website here for timings etc - please let us know via the Forms if you will be attending.  Just to clarify, we can only have a maximum of 2 spectators per family, this includes younger siblings (unless they are a baby in a buggy).

There has been a small change to the pre-ordered picnic lunch bags on the day, instead of popcorn, they will contain a small bag of crisps.  Please remember if you haven't pre-ordered you will need to send a packed lunch as no hot meals will be available on the day.

NSPCC Assembly

This week we have had a virtual NSPCC assembly encouraging children to talk to a trusted adult if they are worried or scared.  They have also learnt the number for ChildLine and may have come home reciting it.

Farewells

This week we have said goodbye to Miss Baker who has been a student teacher with us in Squirrels class.  The children have really enjoyed learning with her, and helping her learn.  This summer she is set to jump out of a plane to raise money for MacMillan, if you would like to sponsor her for this, here is the link for her for her GoFundMe page: https://gofund.me/680ec280 and this is what she says:  "I am jumping alongside 10 other friends and family to raise money for Macmillan Cancer Support. My dad was diagnosed with follicular lymphoma last year which unfortunately is incurable. However, with the support from Macmillan, it can be treated with lots of monitoring, blood tests and scans which is why raising as much money as we can is really important whilst also raising that awareness for others too. "

We will be saying a fond farewell to Mrs Paula Lloyd at the end of term. She will be embracing new challenges with her husband, as they make full use of their skills in house renovation. I am sure you will join us in wishing her well for the future.  Mrs Paula Zabacinschi will be joining our fantastic support staff full time from September, supporting in KS1.

Year 4 Activity Day

Year 4 activity day will be going ahead on 7th July.  It will be held at Copdock School and we will be using the minibus to transport children from Bentley on the day.  The children will be involved in a range of outdoor activities, including preparation of their own tea!  The event will finish by 7pm and parents will need to collect from Copdock School via the main gate.  Children need to come into school in comfortable clothes and trainers, appropriate for the weather on the day.  As they will be outdoors a raincoat will be useful, just in case.  Any questions about the event can be directed to the Year 3/4 class teachers.

Class Swap

In preparation for the changes ahead, we will be holding our usual class swap morning on 13th July.  This will be an opportunity for children to spend time with their class teachers for September and get to know some of the children they will be working with next year.  We hope Miss Barton will be able to join us for this day too.  Children will be lining up on the playground so they can be greeted by their teacher as a group before going into class together.  Please arrive at the usual time

Tudor Day

Historical re-enactment group, The Merrie Folke, are coming to visit us on Wednesday 14th July for the morning!  They will be entertaining us with tales from the Tudors and immersing the children into interactive learning about the people and times.  Children are very welcome to wear a Tudor costume for the morning – they must wear uniform in the afternoon.  There is a PDF attached to this email with some ideas for costumes – a home-made costume is perfectly fine, you do not need to buy a costume!  The group are not charging for the visit but they are raising money to provide a seriously ill child specialist treatments that cost many thousands of pounds, so please, if you are able, please send a donation in on the day. Thank you.

Summer Fete

The PTA are working with our community partners to organise the summer fete on 17th July - it has been confirmed as going ahead.  They could always use an extra pair of hands so if you would like to help on this event and maybe others, please do get in touch with someone from the PTA, or send your details into the office and we can pass them on.
Don't forget to send your raffle tickets stubs and monies into the office.  Also, let us know if you need any more books.

Leavers Assembly

We will be holding our annual leavers assembly in school at 9am on 20th July.  This will give us an opportunity to say goodbye to our wonderful Year 6 pupils.  We are gathering as a whole school for this event but unfortunately, are only able to offer an invitation to Year 6 parents this year.  This will be limited to 2 family members for each Year 6 child.  We will also invite a parent for any children due to receive a special award as part of this service. We will endeavour to take plenty of photographs to mark this occasion.
