Copdock Weekly Update 21/06/19

Newsletter – 21st June 2019

THIS WEEK:

WCET Festival:  Foxes had a wonderful time rehearsing and performing at the Jerwood Dancehouse this week.  We have some lovely photos of them on stage – these will be shared in the half-termly news next month.

Kwik Cricket:  Earlier this week year 6 (+ 1 year 5) pupils enjoyed a Kwik Cricket festival at St Jo’s, there were mixed results in our 4 games but the children thoroughly enjoyed the experience and learnt lots to help them improve their game.

Great Science Share:  4 of our KS2 pupils spent am/pm with some of our Bentley counterparts sharing their scientific knowhow and learning some helpful tips for future experiments.

Crucial Crew:  Foxes spent Wednesday afternoon experimenting with several different survival techniques and scenarios.

Dentist:  Some of our younger pupils were visited by the dentist earlier this week as part of a random sampled study.

Forest Schools:  Foxes spent Thursday in the copse taking part in Forest Schools activities.  In the afternoon they built and lit a fire and cooked chocolate bananas, marshmallows, s’mores and orange cakes.

Swimming:  Some of our Foxes started swimming this week and will be doing so for the next 4 Fridays to hone their skills and ensure they achieve their targets.

NEXT WEEK:

BBQ Style Lunch:  On Monday, we have a special menu available.  If you have not had an email confirming your order, you will need to provide a packed lunch for your child.  The deadline to order these meals was last Monday as the caterers have to pre-order the food.  There will be no hot food available to order on the day.

KS1 Structure Meeting:  Foundation parents are invited into school on Monday afternoon to hear about how KS1 will be structured from September.

School Photos:  Pupils need to remember to bring their smiiles on Tuesday morning for their class photos!

Singing Workshop:  We have a couple of very lucky pupils who are attending a singing workshop with Adey Grummet next week at East Bergholt High School.  We look forward to hearing all about it.

Sports Day:  Parents and families are welcome to join us from 12noon next Thursday for lunch before the sports day begins.  If you haven’t already ordered a grab & go lunch please ensure your child brings a packed lunch in with them as no hot meals will be available to order on the day.  Please see the letter on the school website for details of the day including teams and colours.  Please note the date on the letter is incorrect as we had a last minute change of day.

U9 QuadKids:  Hopefully the weather will be kinder to the U9 QuadKids than it was to the U11s.  Those participating will be wearing the Federation kit but will require trainers, water and snacks.  The event is scheduled to finish at 4:30pm – please ensure slips have been returned indicating whether or not your child will be collected from the event.

OTHER ITEMS:

  • You may have seen the emails this week regarding Bulbs which we have been able to sell to parents with the proceeds going to the PTA.  Thus far we have raised over £50!  Please contact the office if you are interested in buying any – they are selling at £2 per pack.
  • As we come towards the end of the school year and start to think about next year.  It is a good time to remind parents of year 2 children that they will no longer be entitled to universal free school meals once they start in key stage 2 in September.  If you think you may be eligible for free school meals, please take a look at the poster on the school website and visit www.suffolk.gov.uk/freeschoolmeals for details on how to apply.
