Copdock Weekly Update 19/06/2020

Well done for surviving another week!
It was lovely to see lots of you in our assembly again this week, thank you for joining us. Apologies for the technology; perseverance paid off in the end.

We have attached an important update to our website today detailing the end of term arrangements for all children, including those in Years 2, 3, 4 and 5. Our Governing Board are keen to ensure all children have a chance to reconnect, if only briefly, with peers and teachers before the summer holidays. Click here to access this information.

As you will see in the letter we are planning to close school for the final three days of the term, Monday 20th July until Wednesday 22nd July. We have not taken this decision lightly but feel it essential to allow us to meet the needs of our whole school community. This mean the last day of term for most children will be Thursday 16th July as we will be holding our Leavers celebration with Year 6 and their parents on the Friday. We have tried to give you as much notice as possible but if anyone has any real challenges with this arrangement I would encourage you to contact the school to discuss it further. We thank you for your support once again at this challenging time.

Welcome from Miss Waterhouse
For those children in Year 2 and 3 we have a special message from Miss Waterhouse for you. She can't wait to meet you face to face and hopes to be at our special day in July. Click here to access. This message is on You tube so please ensure you supervise your child whilst watching it.

How do you fancy challenging friends, family or neighbours to some fun, virtual sporting activities this summer?

National children’s charity, the Youth Sport Trust, have been helping families stay active and connected with daily #StayHomeStayActive activities since March and now they're challenging the public to go one step further by joining  in the first ever National School Sport Week at Home.  Taking place from 20-26 June, the week will give families, communities, schools and sports clubs the opportunity to take part in a series of virtual sporting challenges which help young people capture the enjoyment, competition and camaraderie they may be missing out on and the Youth Sport Trust is delighted that Sky Sports will be helping to supercharge the campaign. To register and find out more, go to the website www.youthsporttrust.org/nssw and click on the link for parents. You will be asked a couple of questions as you register about who you might challenge and how many people you would like to get involved.  After signing up they will provide you with free and easy-to-use resources to help plan your week of National School Sport Week at Home Activity, set challenges for your families, friends and neighbours, and shout about it online.  There will be a discussion page on our website for you to post pictures of your sporting activities and we will be doing the same at school.  Have fun and we will look forward to seeing you all being active.

Please see the website for additional information we have been asked to share with you as well as the following:

In order to help parents with ideas to keep their kids entertained at home, and to support home learning, I have put together a special ‘at home’ digital edition of the magazine (link below) which is full of clickable content that I hope they will find useful as well as supporting some of our local businesses at this tricky time.
