Copdock Weekly Update 14/01/2022

****Last Call For Book Tokens Please****

Road Safety

Please can we remind parents to discuss road safety with their children, especially those using scooters on the roadside.  We have had discussions in school to reinforce this.  Can we also take the opportunity to remind children not to use their scooters on the school site, and not to ride down the slope on the way out.

The one-way system is in place for safety reasons - whilst we appreciate there can be a bottle-neck at the top of the steps, please be patient and adhere to the one-way route.

Football ASC

Apologies, the poster for our KS2 After School Football was missed off last week's newsletter.  If you haven't already booked on and would like to, please use the link on the attached poster.

Special Menu

Every now and again our kitchen team offer a special menu.  We have one for next Thursday!  Please see attached.  There is no need to pre-order on this occasion but this menu will be replacing the usual Week 1 Thursday offering.  This will be chargeable to KS2 children at the new £2.50 price and can be paid in the usual way.

Assemblies

From next week we will be reverting to whole school assemblies in the school hall.  This includes our Family Assembly which will return to the time of 2:50pm, once again.  This will allow us to celebrate learning together as a whole school.  Each Friday, any parents who have children sharing are welcome to join us in the hall at 2:50pm.  It will still be important to wear a face covering if attending.  We hope to open this invitation to everyone in the coming weeks but will be waiting on guidance from the LA before confirming this.

100 Club

We have made our January draw today and are pleased to announce our winners as follows:

1st Prize - G Green

2nd Prize - H Carpenter

3rd Prize - H Goldberg

Congratulations!

Dinner Money Payments (KS2)

Don't forget you can now pay for meals electronically via the school website.  Please ensure meals are paid for promptly.  If you are unsure how many you owe, please contact the office who will be able to advise.  The price of meals increased from 01/01/2022 to £2.50 so please ensure any meals taken prior to Christmas have been settled by the end of next week to allow our reconciliations to be completed.

Bulbs for Sale

Lillies.jpg We are able to offer you some slightly less than perfect Trumpet Tree Lilly bulbs kindly donated by Thompson & Morgan.  There are 10 bulbs in a pack and they usually retail for around £10 per pack.  We are offering them to you for £3 per pack, or 2 for £5 - first come, first served!  Please email the office to reserve your packs and send the money in next week in an envelope labelled 'Lillies' with your name on.  Thank you in advance for your support.

The Platinum Pudding Competition - a recipe fit for a Queen

A special competition has been launched this week to make the perfect pudding fit for the Queen.  If you have the perfect recipe ideas and are aged 8 years or over, you have the chance to join in the fun by inventing the Jubilee Pudding for the Queen's Platinum Jubilee in 2022.  CLICK HERE FOR FURTHER INFORMATION  Closing date is 4th February and all finalists will be invited to bake their recipe for the judging panel in March.

People up and down the country will be celebrating with Her Majesty by taking part in street parties, fun and games on a special bank holiday in June this year.  As a Federation, we hope to hold our own special street party on Friday 27th May.  We may even have our own special 'bake off' competition on the day too so why not get some practice in now by entering the competition!

Covid Testing Update

From 11th January all staff and pupils who test and report a positive LFD result will no longer be advised to get a confirmatory PCR test.  This change is informed by public health advice as the risk of a positive LFD result being false is very small.  A confirmatory PCR is only required if they:

  • have symptoms (in which case they need to follow the stay at home guidance, self-isolate and order a PCR test)
  • have been advised to take a PCR test because they are in a clinically vulnerable group

Anyone with a positive LFD test result should self-isolate and follow self-isolation guidance.  Information on the new arrangements can be found in the stay at home: guidance for households with possible or confirmed COVID-19 infection..  It is important that all LFD results are reported (positive, negative and void) to NHS Test and Trace report a COVID-19 rapid lateral flow test result .

From Monday 17th January, people who are self-isolating with COVID-19 will have the option to reduce their isolation period after 5 full days if they test negative with a lateral flow device (LFD) test on both day 5 and day 6 and they do not have a high temperature.  For example, if they test negative on the morning of day 5 and the morning of day 6, they can return to their education or childcare setting immediately on day 6.

The first test must be taken no earlier than day 5 of the self-isolation period, and the second must be taken the following day.  All test results should be reported to NHS Test and Trace.  If the result of either of the tests is positive, they should continue to self-isolate until they get negative results from two LFD tests on consecutive days or until they have completed 10 full days of self-isolation, whichever is earliest.  Anyone who is unable to take LFD tests or anyone who continues to have a temperature will need to complete the full 10 day period of self-isolation.  Further information on self-isolation for those with COVID-19 is available.
