THIS WEEK:

Return to School:  Welcome back, a very happy new year to you all.  We also welcome Mrs North back into Woodpeckers.

A quick newsletter to see in the new term, a few reminders – please ensure you keep us up to date with any changes to phone numbers, email and postal addresses.  Dinner monies should be paid each week, or in advance, please ensure monies are in a named, sealed envelope – these can be sent in via the post box or the register boxes.  Please ensure children have a coat in school as we do endeavour to get fresh air at break times even when it is cold.

NEXT WEEK:

Swimming:  Children in years 2-4 who are swimming this half term will need to ensure they have their kit with them on Monday.  We are still looking for a parent helper if anyone is able to volunteer – it doesn’t have to be every week.

After School Club:  As advertised in the half-termly newsletter, the after school club begins on Monday from 3:15-4:15pm.  Multi Sports will be the activity for this half term.  We have decided to extend the offer to those children in year 2 as well as KS2 to try to increase the uptake.  Please contact the office if you would like your child to attend.  Please note the cost of the club is £15 for the 5 weeks, monies should be sent in prior to the club starting please.

Lego Club:  On Wednesday the Lego Club starts again for pupils in years 1-3.  Please ensure you have booked on via: https://kwbclubs.ecwid.com/Copdock-Primary-School-Suffolk-Spring-1-2020-Wednesday-p150260279 for the 5 weeks.

Movie Lunch:  Next Thursday our kitchen are offering a special menu to celebrate the movies.  Please see posters on the website and around school.  Please note jacket potatoes will NOT be available on this date.  We do need to know numbers in advance for ordering ingredients as it is a change to the usual menu.  Please confirm to the office by return to the newsletter email if your child will be taking up the revised menu.  Even if your child is in KS1 and usually has a hot meal, we still need confirmation of numbers.  We MUST have numbers no later than Monday.  The cost remains at £2.40 for KS2 children.

OTHER ITEMS:

  • The East Anglian Daily Times and Evening Star are running another token collecting campaign.  This year it’s called “PLANT TO PLATE” offering the opportunity to receive gardening equipment, seeds and so on.  The aim is to encourage children to engage with nature, seeing the process from planting to serving on their plate.  Keep an eye out in the paper for tokens being published between Saturday 18th January and Friday 27th March.  We need at least 1000 to receive some brilliant gardening products.  Please send the tokens into school as you remove them from the newspaper, before recycling.
  • Please see the attachment to the email.  It is a leaflet on the value of COURAGE and can also be located on the school website at http://www.bentleycopdock.co.uk/serve_file/360925
  • There will be another COFFEE & CHAT SESSION to be held after half term, the website calendar and the regular newsletter will contain more details nearer the time.
  • Are there any parents or friends of the school willing to help LAY SOME SLABS around the edges of the chicken coop please?  If you could spare some time and effort to help us, please contact the office.
  • A quick note to make SQUIRRELS class aware that they will be assessed on their KEY WORD SPELLINGS next week.
  • Following discussions at parent consultations last term, YEAR 2 PARENTS should be aware that we will be placing an order for the SATS BUSTER BOOKS.  They normally retail at £12 but as a school we get them heavily discounted to £5.  We intend to place the order next week, so please send monies into the office in a named envelope.
