NEXT WEEK:

Basketball:  Participating pupils will need to be in school at 8:30am on Tuesday wearing the federation kit.  They will need to bring a packed lunch, water bottle and uniform to change into for the afternoon.

Safer Internet Day:  Next Tuesday we will be covering internet safety.

Woodpeckers Musical Performance:  The class would love to share what they have been working on in music with their families and friends.  They would like to invite their audience to come in on Wednesday at 2:50pm as this is the only afternoon Mrs Handscombe works, to enjoy their performance of Benjamin Britten’s Storm Interlude.

Woodpeckers Fundraising & Sharing Assembly:  Woodpeckers are having a Valentine’s themed fundraiser to raise money for Woodpeckers Class to be held on Friday 14th February at 2:30 – 2:45pm before their family sharing assembly.  As well as biscuits and cakes, we will also be making homemade presents to buy.  If you cannot make it on the day, you are always welcome to send money with your child in a sealed named envelope to purchase any of the items.  Everyone is welcome to purchase items regardless of what class their child is in.

OTHER ITEMS:

  • Advice for parents/guardians provided by the Department for Education:  “You should not be unduly worried about the possibility of your children catching the CORONAVIRUS.  There is no reason why your children should not continue to attend their early years, school or further education setting as normal.  We recognise that some families or children may be planning to travel to China during the forthcoming half term period.  If so, please refer to the FCO’s latest travel advice via the link:

  • Don’t forget in the first week back after half term we have SHARED LEARNING for children in years 1-6.  There will be a Shared Learning session for Foundation children the following week on Friday 6th March from 2pm.
  • Please keep an eye out for a QUESTIONNAIRE coming out to parents after half term.  We appreciate your cooperation in advance.
  • As part of our topic work for the next half term, we are looking for parents and friends to come into school to talk to the children about their JOB ROLES.  We are looking to broaden their awareness of jobs in the community.
  • Thank you for completing our questionnaire about the experiences your child has already had.  We will be reviewing this as a staff team and using the information to support our next steps for curriculum enhancements.  As part of our curriculum review we would also like to share more information with parents about how our topic learning is planned and introduced to the children.  Our next COFFEE AND CHAT session will be held on Friday 28th February at 1.45pm, before shared learning in classes.  We hope you will be able to attend to find out more about our curriculum development.
  • Bit of advance notice for you all; on Thursday 5th March, we will be taking part in the annual WORLD BOOK DAY.  This year we are inviting children to come dressed as an adjective!!!  Simple examples would be ‘spotty’ or ‘stripy’, however, we would love for you to get really imaginative and we will be having fun on the day guessing what adjective each of us is dressed up as.  There will be a prize for the most imaginative/ingenious costume in each class.  As ever, dressing up is optional, your child does not have to if they don’t want to and are welcome to just wear uniform on the day.  We can’t wait to see your designs and creations!
  • As part of CHILDREN'S MENTAL HEALTH WEEK we would like to remind you that we offer a range of support within school as part of our Early Help offer.  If you are worried about something or have a concern within your family that we may be able to help with please call in and speak to a member of staff.  Further information is available on the website
