Copdock Weekly Update 06/11/2020

Tuesday Menu

Please note that the menu on Tuesday will be served with rice not noodles.  All other options remain the same as per the menu.  Please check the website if you are unsure.

This week we had a special menu on Thursday to mark Bonfire Night.  Please ensure you keep an eye out for information on menu variances and especially those that need to be pre-ordered to allow our caterers to source additional ingredients for a one-off meal.  Unfortunately we had a few people this time around who had not pre-ordered but asked for a hot meal on the day which can cause confusion for the children and additional workload for both us and the caterers.  On this occasion we managed to feed them all.

Dinner Payments Online

It is possible for hot dinners to be paid for online via Suffolk County Council if that is preferable to cash or cheque for you.  Please use this link which will take you to the correct page:  https://secure.suffolkcc.gov.uk/customerservice/csd/SCC/product.aspx?ProductID=EDSM01  Hot meals cost £2.40 per meal for KS2 children.  If you think you may be eligible for Free School Meals please visit: https://www.suffolk.gov.uk/children-families-and-learning/schools/school-meals-uniforms-and-trips/apply-for-free-school-meals/

Compassion

The value this half term is compassion.  Please see this leaflet for inspiration on how to explore it further: http://www.bentleycopdock.co.uk/uploads/248/files/HomeSchoolValues-COMPASSION.pdf

Layers

As the weather is now getting colder could you please ensure the children have a coat in school for playtimes.  Also, in line with Covid-19 regulations, we are required to have windows open in classrooms to encourage good ventilation.  Whilst we endeavour to keep the classrooms at a comfortable temperature, they are cooler than in previous years, therefore it would be advisable for children to wear a vest or similar under their shirts and to make sure they have a jumper/cardigan/fleece to keep them comfortable in class.

Reports

Your child's report is now available on the school website.  You should also have received a class-specific email inviting you to chat with class teachers if you have any questions or issues to raise having reviewed the reports.  This email will also contain the instructions for how to access the reports.

This email address that you have provided school with is your login username for the school website.  Initially the password would have been set up as your eldest child in school followed by the 2-digit numerical reference of their month of birth (ie Andrew02 - for a February birthday).  If you have changed the password since then, we have no access to check it and are unable to reset it - you would need to follow the instructions on screen.

Poppies

Don't forget you can send money in with your child to purchase poppies and additional items.  Prices range from 20p for a poppy, 50p for a reflector poppy, 50p for zip pulls, £1 for wristbands and £1.50 for a snap band.  There are also pencils, rubbers, rulers, pencil sharpeners and poppy pins available for a donation.

Remembrance

We will be holding a minute's silence on Wednesday at 11am.

School Photos

We have the photographers in on Thursday next week to take individual pictures of the children.  Please ensure they come into school in smart uniform and wearing their smiles.

Children in Need

Next Friday is Children in Need day.  The children are invited to come into school in non-uniform for a donation of 50p, this will include a Pudsey activity.

Change of Details

Please remember to notify us of any change in mobile number or email address as we need up to date information to ensure we are able to contact you in an emergency, and to keep you up to date on events as there is a lot of change and variations at the moment as you can appreciate.

Vocabulary Words

As per last year, the children will have words of the week to be used by everyone at home to help broaden their vocabulary.  These will be included on the newsletter each week.  To start us off, here are this week's words:
