Copdock Weekly Update 06/03/2020

Newsletter – 6th March 2020

THIS WEEK:

KS1 Grandparents Day:  The KS1 children loved having their grandparents in this week to share their learning.  Please pass on our thanks to those who attended, we hope they enjoyed it too.

World Book Day:  Everyone looked fabulous on Thursday and had lots of fun guessing one another’s adjectives – there were some very imaginative costumes – well done everyone.  Look out for photos in the half-termly newsletter.

Musical Foxes:  A local musician has visited Foxes today to talk to them about American Jazz, she brought with her a trumpet, frugelhorn, cornet, tenor horn and a baritone.  They have all had the opportunity to give some of them a try.

Foundation Shared Learning:  Thank you to our Foundation parents who came along today to share learning with their child.  We hope you enjoyed the experience and the workshop beforehand.

PTA Meeting:  We have provided a crèche to encourage as many parents as possible to attend the PTA meeting today.  We are very keen to keep the PTA running and are delighted that so many of you have shown an interest in helping us.

NEXT WEEK:

Tag Rugby:  For those children participating in the Tag Rugby on Monday, they will be provided with the Federation kit.  They are able to have lunch (either hot or packed) before they head to Ransomes for the event.  Please do however, send them with snacks and plenty of water.  Please remember ALL participating children will need to be collected from the venue at 4pm – please ensure that the school are aware of who is collecting your child if it is not you.  Please be aware that the weather forecast over the weekend and for Monday is not looking promising, we will be informed on Monday if the event is going ahead and will obviously contact those concerned if there is any change to the above.

Sport Relief:  Next Friday is another opportunity for children to come in non-uniform.  For a 50p donation to Sport Relief children can wear something sporty.  During the afternoon, we will be hosting some fun activities which the children are collecting sponsorship to complete.  If you have yet to see a sponsor form, there is a copy on the school website.

Kittens & Squirrels Class

Our learning about what Africa is like as a place is now well underway and we will be comparing to our own locality.   Over this term, a meerkat guest will be coming to stay with you to help your child learn about features in our locality.  We would like you to take a photo of the meerkat next to a feature in Copdock/Washbrook and either email  or print it off and send into school.  We will then display the photos for other children to guess the feature.  Features may include: village memorial, phonebox, pub etc.  We will also aim to set up a blog too.  The children have loved doing this in the past.

On 24th March Squirrels and Kittens will be contributing to the ‘Our Locality’ exhibition by building a 3D map of Copdock which will be laid out in the hall on the floor.  Every child in Squirrels and Kittens class has been set homework to create a feature in our locality to place on the map.  In previous years, parents have helped their children to create amazing models of features such as the school, pub, playing field etc.  If you are unsure of what to do, please speak to your child’s class teacher.
