Copdock Weekly Update 05/11/2021

As Suffolk is now an Enhance Response Area, please remember to wear your mask when bringing and collecting your children, thank you.

Suffolk COVID updates
The frequently asked section on the SCC website has been updated for parents and carers and covers the new measures. We have been asked to share this link with you:  Latest guidance COVID-19 | Suffolk County Council

Colder Classrooms

As the weather has turned over the last few weeks, could we remind you to ensure your child has a coat in school - we do encourage outdoor breaks as much as possible, even with a little rain.  Please also bear in mind that we are keeping classrooms ventilated with doors and windows open as per the current guidelines, therefore the classrooms can become cooler than we would like.  It may be an idea for children to layer up under their uniforms if they are positioned near the windows or are susceptible to the cold.

Lost Property

We are gathering quite a collection of jumpers, fleeces and cardigans without any names in them.  As children warm up during the day they are discarding their layers.  Please ensure that all items are labelled so that we can get them back to their rightful owners.  Any items without names in have been put on the lunch box trolley so that you can take a look at the end of the day.

Football Club

Don't forget our after school club starts on Monday for KS2.  Please see the attached poster for details of how to join in - it's not too late - book in over the weekend.

Dinner Options

Particularly for those children in Key Stage 1 (reception, years 1 & 2), please discuss the dinner options with your child so that they know what they would like to order for their hot lunch.  Some of the children are quite confused and unsure of what they like.  The new menu started this week as circulated prior to half term.  This is available on the website here, we are not currently offering the packed lunch option, however the jacket potato option is available each day.  We have had a few changes to this week's jacket options which unfortunately we were not aware of until the day.  This should be smooth sailing now as the kitchen should be receiving timely orders.

If your child prefers a packed lunch, please ensure there are no nuts.  We also ask that sweets and chocolate are not included in their lunch boxes.

Poppies

We continue to sell poppies as per the email sent earlier this week.  Prices vary, ranging from 10p for a paper poppy, to £1.50 for a snap band.  All donations go to The Royal British Legion.

Family Sharing Assembly

As we resume our sharing assembly next week, it will be remote on 12th November using the usual link.  The following week is Children in Need so there will be no sharing assembly - those children who were due to share have been issued with a new date replacing the Woodpeckers Class assembly in February, which will now be held after the half term.  Once guidance has been renewed on 15th November we will be able to let you know if we can allow parents into school to share our assemblies again.

Children in Need

In 2 weeks time it will be Children in Need.  The children are invited to come into school dressed in bright colours for a 50p donation to this charity.

Mr Ross

As per the email sent earlier this week, the children have been informed of Mr Ross leaving Copdock Primary.  We would like to thank you for the lovely comments that have been sent in following this sad news and these have been shared with him.  We will all miss him dearly.

Whilst Mr Ross has been away, we've had Mrs Wright working with the children.  Today was her last day with us so we have wished her a fond farewell and thanked her for all her hard work.  From Monday, Miss Cross will be working in Kittens class and Mrs Salmon will be joining Woodpeckers.
