Copdock Weekly Update 05/03/2021

Return to School

We are so excited to welcome all the children back to school next week.  Please review the letter sent out on Tuesday to clarify how this will work - details can be found here.  If you have any questions or comments, please do get in touch.  As per our risk assessment, the classrooms will be ventilated with doors and windows open.  With this in mind, please ensure each child has a coat in school even when it's feeling more spring-like outside.  Here is a quick checklist of things to remember:

  • Hot dinners will be available as usual, the menu continues until Easter, and can be found on the website here, please note the School Packed Lunch option is NOT available.
  • Children are expected to come into school wearing their uniform, they are permitted to wear trainers as we intend to get outside and be active as much as possible.
  • On PE days, children should come in dressed in their PE kits and trainers - don't forget tracksuit bottoms and tops for in between times.
  • KS1 have PE on Mondays, KS2 have PE on Tuesdays.  Foxes will also need to be in PE kit on Thursdays and Woodpeckers on Fridays - HOWEVER - not next week - just Tuesday for a double session!
  • Parents need to wear masks or visors when approaching school, and on site (unless medically exempt).
  • Please only arrive at your allotted drop-off/collection time, and leave school promptly to avoid our bubbles mixing.
  • If you need to speak to a teacher, do not engage them on the playground - contact the office via email or phone to arrange an appointment.

Family Sharing Assemblies

Please see attached the schedule for our virtual family sharing assemblies which will start next week.  Hopefully everyone should have had, or will get the chance to share once during this school year.  Please note our Easter service on 26th March will involve an Easter bonnet parade as usual.

Red Nose Day

This year's Red Nose Day is on Friday 19th March.  We know it has been a difficult year for many families.  We also know that many charities, such as this one, rely on donations from the public.  Taking all of this into consideration we are marking the occasion with a 'Dress in Red for 50p' day.

Uniform

Over the next few weeks we will be sending out an order form for new uniform.  Please keep an eye on the weekly news for the form and the deadline.  Start checking that uniform against the lockdown growth spurts in preparation!

PTA Summer Fayre

Our fantastic PTA are teaming up with the Parish Council to create an extraordinary event for the whole community to get involved in.  Ultimately it will be an opportunity to reconnect the local community whilst raising much needed funds for school and the village.  With this in mind we need as much support as possible from volunteers.

The event itself is taking place on Saturday 17th July so put the date in your diary now.  The planning of the event starts at the next PTA meeting which is scheduled to take place on Wednesday 17th March at 8pm - the link to the meeting will be on next week's newsletter.

PTA Chocolate Bingo

In the meantime, the PTA have arranged virtual chocolate bingo to entertain you.  The event takes place on Saturday 13th March from 2-4pm.  It's £2 per person and then additional strips for £2 each.  Use the following link to book your place now tps://www.pta-events.co.uk/copdockprimarypta/index.cfm?event=event&eventId=34589#.YD4PrWTfXDs

Flute

Foxes Flute lessons will recommence on Wednesday 10th March.  Please ensure they have their instrument in school to be able to participate next week.

Please see attached a letter regarding the up-coming census for your information.  There is also a document with some of our World Book Day photographs - can you identify them?

We'd like to finish with a massive thank you for your commitment to home learning,  you have all been super learners.
