Copdock Weekly Update 04/02/2022

2s Day

Thank you to everyone who supported our 2s day this week - there were some fabulous outfits - keep an eye out for the half termly news where there will be photos!  We collected just over £64 for the PTA.

Foxes Basketball

Next week we welcome back a long-awaited sports event in person!  Those Foxes who are participating have been notified.  They will need to come into school on Tuesday wearing their PE kit and trainers, with a packed lunch and water.  We look forward to hearing all about it next week.

Deadlines

Next week is full of deadlines so don't miss out - Monday is the final day to return slips for the Woodpeckers trip on 15th, Friday is the deadline to tell us what your child is having for lunch on the last day of term, and to order any new uniform.  In case you missed it - today was the deadline for the Reading Surveys!

Growing Together

The theme of this year's Children's Mental Health Week 7-13th February 2022 if Growing Together.

Growing Together is about growing emotionally and finding ways to help each other grow.  Challenges and setbacks can help us to grow and adapt and trying new things can help us to move beyond our comfort zone into a new realm of possibility and potential.  However, emotional growth is often a gradual process that happens over time, and sometimes we might feel a bit 'stuck'.  As parents and carers, you play an important role in your child's mental health.  Check out the free resources for families on the link below.  We have also attached a useful well-being bingo which might be a useful starting point to encourage your child to engage with.

Internet Safety

This week is Safer Internet Day which is celebrated globally in February each year to promote the safe and positive use of digital technology for children and young people, and to inspire a national conversation about using technology responsibly, respectfully, critically, and creatively. The children will be learning about the four areas of risk: content, contact, conduct and commerce and will be finding out how to keep safe.

Head Pupils will also be leading a whole school assembly about Online safety, ready for Safer Internet Day on Tuesday 8th February. Please ask your children about what they have learned later in the week and remember to keep yourself updated with important safety and filtering on your devices at home.

Bedtime Story

This half term we will be hosting a KS1 virtual bedtime story on Thursday 17th February at 6:30pm to encourage reading for pleasure, more information about this will be sent out soon.

Lego Club

In previous years we have run a Lego club after school for KS1 children.  We are keen to know if it would be feasible to run again.  We would offer it straight after school for an hour per week, either on a Tuesday or a Thursday, for children from reception to year 4.  If you would be interested for your child to attend, please can you let the office know via email so we can collate the responses.  In the past the club has run for 6 weeks at a cost of £20-25 for the half term.  Once we have an idea of numbers we will be able to set the club up and confirm details.  The club is administered and run through an external company called Kids With Bricks - if you would like more details please take a look at their website.  Each week there is a vote on the builds creating some fun inter-school competition.

Yopa

We have been granted an extension to the deadline to sign up for a Yopa board.  You now have until 1st March to register your interest.  If we can get 10 boards up, they will donate a tablet to the school - we have already got 4 boards!  If you have any questions or wish to know more, please check out their website.
