Copdock Weekly Update 03/09/2021

Welcome Back!

We hope everyone enjoyed their summer break.  It is so nice to have the children back in school.  Please ensure you don't arrive at school any earlier than 8:40am.  We look forward to seeing you on Monday.

Covid-19 Update

Current Government guidance for schools and Local Authority guidance, states close contacts are 'strongly advised to obtain a PCR test'.  This prevents the need for longer isolation periods when in close contact with a positive case and ensures children can continue quickly with their education.  We will do all we can to ensure our school is a safe environment for everyone in our community and keep you updated of any variation in guidance.

Swimming

We will be starting swimming from 13th of September for Woodpeckers class - if your child is swimming you will receive a letter next week with all the details attached.

Assemblies

Family assemblies will recommence each week on a Friday afternoon at 2:50pm, where we will celebrate learning and successes together.  Adults are welcome to attend these weekly assemblies in person throughout the year or join us virtually through a Teams link.  The first official sharing assembly will be on Friday 10th September.  Please do let the office know if you intend on coming into school to join us for the assemblies.

Children will continue to share their learning as part of these assemblies so please check the overview for the term which will be coming out early next week.  Each class will also lead an assembly at some point in the year, so look out for these dates.  Our goal continues to be actively encouraging all individuals to have high expectations of themselves and others, be positive and resilient in their approach and to challenge themselves in their learning.  Please celebrate any new learning with your child at home and recognise their efforts to take responsibility and work hard to overcome any challenges they may face.

PE Days

From next week your child should come into school wearing their PE kit on the following days:

Kittens Monday Thursday
Squirrels Monday Thursday
Woodpeckers Monday Tuesday
Foxes Tuesday Thursday

PTA

Please do let us know if you are interested in joining our PTA team.  The AGM will be coming up this term and a new committee will be elected.  Our PTA does some fabulous work to organise events for both adults and children and raise some valuable funds for our school, so please help out where you can.

Football Club

Key Stage 1 children have the opportunity to take part in the football club being run on Monday evenings straight after school for an hour.  This club starts on Monday and will run for 7 weeks, charged at £2.50 per session.  Please see the attached flyer for the QR code to sign up.

School Website

If you haven't already done so, why don't you download the School Spider app so that you have quick and easy access to the website.  You'll receive notifications of anything that affects your child's class and enable you to be notified when parents' evening slots become available to book, and so on.
