Copdock Weekly Update 03/07/2020

Well done to all our families that are continuing their super home learning this week. Just a few bits to update you with this week:

Term date change - The governors have met to discuss how best to prepare for the wider reopening of schools in September and they have agreed to bring forward one of the PD days to enable best planning. This will mean children will return to school on Friday 4th September, not Thursday 3rd September as originally planned.

Home Learning Support - A message from Mrs Robinson
I thought I would just share with you a link that I found online that might give you some support with helping your children with their home learning.  You've all done a fantastic job so far and some of the videos that I have found might give you some new tips. The videos are only short (about 3-5 minutes) but give you some really useful help and advice on a range of subjects.  I hope you find them useful.

Year 2 lunch
Don't forget to let us know what your year 2 child would like for lunch if they are attending all day on 20th July & would like to take advantage of the universal free school packed lunch on offer.  If we do not hear from you by Monday 13th, we will assume you will supply a packed lunch from home.

Video chat for Y3/4/5 next week
To support the children ready for their special day in school at the end of term, Mrs Austin would like children to join a catch up chat on Microsoft Teams.  They can share any news, ask any questions about the return to school and if time perhaps share a story.  A link will appear on the discussion tab of their home page when they log into the website.
Year 3 - Wednesday 8th July at 11.45am Mrs Austin and Mrs Collins
Year 4 - Wednesday 8th July at 9.30am Mrs Austin and Mrs Windmill
Year 5 - Wednesday 8th July at 1pm Mrs Austin and Mrs Windmill

Year 6 next week
Please remember to bring your packed lunch next Friday for a full day at school.  It would be advisable to wear trainers too.

Parking
When dropping off or picking children up, please ensure you do not stop on the yellow zig-zags.  Please ensure you park safely and considerately.

Plant to Plate Tokens
Please check if you have any more Plant to Plate tokens at home.  We are continuing to collect them.  They are no longer being printed but we can still add them to our total.  If we could have them in by the end of next week that would be greatly appreciated.  Thank you for your continued support.

School Books & Equipment
As we approach the end of the school year, could you please have a look at home for any school library or reading books, or any other school equipment and return it to us by the end of next week preferably.  If it will fit in the post box, please post it.  Every child has the opportunity to come into school before the end of term, so if you cannot get the items to us next week, please send them in with the children.  This will give us a chance to get everything logged and ready for next year.  Thank you in advance.

We have been asked to share the following with you:

The Suffolk Parenting Team has a new facebook page for parents/carers … look for Suffolk Parent Hub on Facebook

Due to Government and Suffolk County Council guidelines in the current COVID-19 situation, Suffolk County Council Parenting Team has had to postpone all face-to-face contact for parenting programmes and workshops until further notice. For more advice and information for parents and carers, including parenting programmes:

Please also keep an eye on the website for other useful information we have been asked to share with our school community.
