Copdock Weekly Update 02/07/2021
Sports Day
Thank you so much to those who came to spectate at our sports day this week. The sun shone and the children really enjoyed themselves. Well done to everyone involved. With a special thank you to Mrs Windmill for her organisation and to all the helpers. If you have any feedback for us about the event, please do share it with us.
Please remember, if you took any photographs or videos, not to share them on social media.
KS1 - Extra PE
Whilst Foxes are away next week, we have an opportunity for KS1 children to have a session with their PE coach! Therefore, Kittens and Squirrels will need to come into school in their PE kits on Tuesday as well as Monday.
PGL
As you will no doubt be aware, our Foxes class are heading off to Bawdsey Manor on Monday lunchtime for their long awaited residential trip. They should arrive at school on Monday at their usual time of 8:45am with everything they need for the trip, including a packed lunch in a disposable bag. The children should return to school during the afternoon on Friday, and should be here ready for their usual collection time of 3:10pm. If there is any delay we will endeavour to contact you by text message. Should you need any further information regarding kit list etc, please refer to the letter emailed on 9th June, also available here.
Year 4 Activity Day
Next Wednesday our year 4s will be having an activity day. Thank you to everyone who responded so promptly to the email requesting numbers. They will need to bring a change of clothes, and a water pistol if they wish to join in with the water fight. Please remember to collect them promptly at 7pm.
Summer Fete
Don't forget, it's not too late to purchase raffle tickets for the summer fete. If you've already bought them but can't remember what to do with your stubs and monies, just bring them into school - either pop them in the post box or hand them in at the gate. We will make sure that the PTA receive them. If you require more books, please let us know and we'll get some to you. There's also still time for you to offer your time to help at the event, or if you can't make this one, to volunteer to help the PTA going forward.
Teddy Bears' Picnic & Transition
Next week we welcome our new foundation children. On Monday they will be coming into school with a grown-up and a teddy to share a picnic. Then on Friday, they'll be coming into school to spend some time getting to know Mr Ross and the classroom that they will be working in from September. We're really excited to meet them, and their teddies!
Family Sharing Assembly
Today was our last family assembly of the year. Keep an eye open in September for the schedule for the autumn term sharing.
Dinner Monies
As we race towards the end of term, please ensure dinner monies are paid up to date. It would be appreciated if dinners for the 19th & 20th could be paid for the week before so that we can get all the banking done before we break up. For those of you with children moving from year 2 into year 3, from September you will be required to pay for any hot meals taken. If you think you may be eligible for assistance with this, you may find this poster helpful.
Reception Class Photo
The local newspaper usually produces a First Class supplement in the autumn term with a photograph of all the children who have started in reception that year. Unfortunately due to the pandemic, they decided against producing it. However, they are doing so this term! We have been informed that the supplement will be published in next Wednesdays paper. Parents are usually able to order copies of the actual photograph directly from the publishers.
Tudor Day
Looking ahead to the week after next, we have our Tudor Day coming up on the 14th. If you are still wondering about a costume, why not take a look at the attached document for ideas. Please remember, if your child choses not to dress up, they will need to come to school dressed in their usual uniform.

End of Year Reports
Make sure you have checked your access to the school website or ideally downloaded the app. School reports will be available via the website from next Friday (9th) - please see further information which will be sent to you during the course of the week.
Words of the Week
Reception | tall | short |
Years 1&2 | define | identify |
Woodpeckers | saliva | enzyme |
Foxes | No words | No words |
Learning Behaviours
This week's learning behaviour is keep trying, don't give up and the recipients are:
Kittens | Freddie | Nancy | Joseph |
Squirrels | Eliana | Oliver
Woodpeckers | Savanna | Benjamin
Foxes | Abigail | Isla |
Sincere apologies, I misheard the announcement of learning behaviours in Woodpeckers last week, it was infact Oliver and Arrietty, not Olivia as I reported - perhaps Mrs Usher needs to try to tune out those distractions and keep trying!
Please do remember to take a look at the Local Clubs & Events section of the website where there are ideas and suggestions for the holidays along with summer camps, local clubs and even the opportunity to be on TV!
