Copdock Summer Farewell

As we reach the end of term, we thought it would be helpful to provide some initial details about September.  Please bear in mind that these are subject to change if guidance from the DfE or LA changes.

Friday 3rd September - First day back for children.

Arrival - registration will open at 8.45am for all children. Please arrive on time.
As the drop off has been so successful in recent months, we have decided to keep the same routine to ease congestion.
A member of staff will be on the gate and on the school playground from 8.40am to welcome children.  This means parents can drop children at the gate and leave promptly.  Children who normally walk to school from the village can continue to do so and we would encourage as many people as possible to walk, to reduce cars near the school site.

Uniform and PE
We will be returning to full school uniform including school shoes http://www.bentleycopdock.co.uk/page/uniform/20892
On PE days, children will come to school in PE kit.  Older children may bring a change of t-shirt.

We will send information out before the start of term to keep you fully informed.

PTA Message

The fete seems to have been a huge success all round, and I can confirm that the total raised was £2,502.24, there were many people helping on the day for set up and thanks to everyone for their help.  Unfortunately, our secretary is leaving the PTA from now and I will be stepping down at the AGM, so if anyone wishes to volunteer their time, please let us know.  Hope everyone has a great summer.

Governor Update

Governors would like to share their thanks with the whole school community for making our school a safe place to work and learn during such challenging times.  We will be reviewing systems for September in line with Government guidance and will ensure any new update over the summer are shared before the return to school.
A special thank you to our staff team who have worked incredibly hard to promote excitement and enhance learning opportunities and experiences.  As Governors we have been unable to get in to school as often as we would have liked this year, but we have continued to monitor through online meetings with different staff and our some of our pupils.  It is good to know our pupils have continued to make the most of school life too.

Library Challenge
Suffolk Libraries is launching a major campaign to encourage people back to the library in line with the relaxation of COVID restrictions from 19 July. The Big Catch Up will see family activities returning to libraries over the summer with the country’s biggest literacy campaign, the Summer Reading Challenge, running alongside.

It’s all about helping people to catch up with what they’ve been missing. This might be catching up with each other and benefitting from all the social interaction that library activities can provide, or catching up on books and reading skills with the Summer Reading Challenge proven to be a great way of maintaining children’s literacy skills over the long summer holidays.

Some activities have started already and it’ll take a while before the full calendar of events is up and running but check the website at Home | Suffolk Libraries or contact your local library to find out what’s on offer.

Children can sign up for the Summer Reading Challenge for free at all libraries from Saturday 17 July and it’ll be running until September.

This year’s theme is Wild World Heroes – a group of friends making their town even better for the people and animals that live there. The challenge is aimed at children aged 4-11. You sign up, read six books over the summer holidays and collect a prize for each one from the library. If you complete the challenge, you’ll also get a certificate. All primary schools have been sent posters and bookmarks to give to pupils.

You can also sign up for a special children’s newsletter and Suffolk Libraries will keep you posted on events and reading ideas over the summer, as well as send Summer Reading Challenge reminders. Summer Reading Challenge 2021 | Suffolk Libraries

Happy holidays!
