Bentley Weekly Update 29/06/18

Worship Group Presentation – The children in Worship Group have been working so hard this year and have prepared a short presentation that they would like to share with parents on Friday 6th July at 2:15pm. If you would like to come along, learn about more about what Worship Group have been up to and ask questions, Mrs Rudge would love to hear from. All parents / carers are welcome whether your child is in Worship Group or not. Please let us know if you are able to come along.

Reminders – Due in by Monday – Maths bags and money for year 5/6 Pleasurewood Hills trip. Due in by end of term – Kingswood payment in full for those children in years 4 and 5 who are going in October.

Library Books – Thank you to all those families who have returned library books, replaced them or paid the fine already, and those who have spoken to Mrs Robinson. There are still a few outstanding so please send them in by Monday or speak to Mrs Robinson if for any reason you can’t. Thank you.

Miss Valentine’s Last Day – A number of parents have been asking when Miss Valentine’s last day is; sadly, we will be saying a tearful farewell to Miss Valentine next Tuesday, 3rd July. Miss Valentine has been working in Wolves class for a number of months now and has successfully passed her teacher training (with a Distinction no less!) and has been snapped up by an Ipswich school to teach her own class from September. We wish her the very best for the future and will miss her contributions to school life.

High School Induction and Class Swap morning - Excitement is growing for next Wednesday; the move for Wolves class and Hedgehogs class is going great guns and hopefully by the class swap morning, each class should have a good idea of what their new classrooms will look like for September. Year 6 pupils due to move up to EBHS have their induction day on the same day; as advised in the original information that came home, parents are responsible for the transport to and from the High School on this day.

School Council and Head Pupil Elections - Over the next few weeks we will once again be discussing the important skills and attributes required for pupil leadership within school. As in previous years we will be encouraging children to be brave and present a brief statement about why they should be considered for a place on the School Council. We have representatives from Year 1 to Year 6 as well as a Chair and Secretary from the older year groups. Presentations will take place on Monday 16th July during assembly, and children are welcome to put posters around school if they so wish.

Head Pupils speeches will take place on Wednesday 18th July. Following votes from children and staff within school, Mrs Austin will interview children to be sure they have the correct skills and can meet the requirements of the job description. This can be found on the school website under the communities tab for information.

Reports – End of year reports will be sent home on Tuesday 10th July this year, after the year 6 SATs results are released.

Sports Day – The children are training hard for the event next Thursday – please ensure that all children have a packed lunch, plenty of drinks, a sun hat / cream and a t-shirt with their team colours. If any of you have gazebos that you are willing to bring with you to give a bit of protection to the children in the sun, we would be extremely grateful. We are also looking for a pop up football goal that we could borrow for the day. If you can help with either of these things, please get in touch with the school. Thank you.
