Isla and Dylan

Well Done!

Words of the Week – These will return after half term

Values Certificates – The value of ‘Service’

Poppy, Faith and Maisie

Be Vigilant – A pupil has reported feeling like he was being followed after school one day this week by a tall man wearing a dark coloured coat. Please be vigilant for strangers around the school and speak to your children about staying in sight of an adult. The incident has been reported to the police and we would urge you to do likewise if you experience anything suspicious.

Staffing Updates - As you are aware, Mrs Duff is approaching her maternity leave shortly. I am sure you will join us in wishing her well in the coming weeks. Mrs North has agreed to extend her teaching days whilst Mrs Duff is away and will be supported by Mrs Drain and Mrs Hicks as Higher Level Teaching Assistants. In the new school year, Hedgehogs class will only have 13 children, so all KS2 children will come together for some afternoon curriculum activities.

The Big Ask Please don’t forget to do this today!!!!!….. The Children's Commissioner for England is encouraging all children to complete this online survey to share their views about what children need to live a healthy life. It will only take 5-10 minutes so please try to support your child to have their say! Deadline for completion is 28th May.

Adders PGL Residential – Just a gentle reminder that the PGL residential visit that Adders are going on in July, needs to be paid in full by Friday 11th June please. If you are unsure how much you have outstanding, please contact the school office.

Dates for You Diary – Thursday 1st July - Our annual Sports Day event will need to be different this year but we hope it will still allow parents to join us during the morning to celebrate an Olympic themed session.  We will be splitting the event into KS1 and KS2 to reduce the number or children and adults together, but the children will still be working collaboratively in colour teams to have a successful event.  Parents with children in both key stages will be welcome to stay on site for the morning.  More information will be coming home soon but save the date!

On 15th June we will be taking part in the Young Voices Big Sing in an attempt to break a Guinness World Record for the most people singing together simultaneously.  This will also be an opportunity for us to raise much needed funds for The Place to Be charity who support children's mental health.  Visit https://www.youngvoices.co.uk/biggest-sing/ for more details. If you would like to donate you can text BIGGESTSING to 70085 to donate £1 (texts cost £1 plus one standard rate message), alternatively you can donate online at www.virginmoneygiving.com/fund/biggestsing - we will send reminders of how to donate nearer the time.

Fathers’ Day Gifts! - The PTA are excited to announce, we are creating Fathers’ day Pictures! (and Grandad ones too!)

On Thursday 10th June and Friday 11th June, during school hours, we will be creating chalk backgrounds for your children to pose in. For just £2, you will receive a professionally printed picture, a perfect gift for fathers’ day!

If you would like to book your children in, please email Aimee on [email protected], comment on the PTA Facebook page or let the office know, your child/children's name, the background you would like and if you would like dad, daddy, grandad etc.  If you have younger siblings, we can arrange for them to come and be in the picture too.  Pictures of the designs available are attached to this email.

Outdoor Spaces - We are currently reviewing the use of our outdoor spaces for play and lunchtime.  The children will be involved in offering ideas but we need your help with one idea please!  We want to set up a suitcase library for outdoor use.  If you have an old suitcase, not too large, we would love to turn it into a useful kit for outdoors.  Please contact the office if you think you can help.

Menu Changes – After half term, there will be a couple of changes to the menu following a vote taken by the children. Both changes are on the week one menu; on Monday apple crumble and custard will be changed to chocolate crunch and chocolate custard (I am devastated by this!), and on Thursday the chicken and sweetcorn carbonara will be changed to cheesy pasta.
