Sports Day 2021 – We can’t wait to welcome you all next Thursday to our sports day. Please read the letter that was emailed for information on timings. Just to clarify, we can only have a maximum of 2 spectators per family, this includes younger siblings (unless they are a baby in a buggy).

There has been a small change made to the picnic lunch bags on the day, instead of popcorn, they will contain a small bag of crisps.

Tudor Day – Historical re-enactment group, The Merrie Folke, are coming to visit us on Wednesday 14th July for the afternoon! They will be entertaining us with tales from the Tudors and emerging the children into interactive learning about the people and times. Children are very welcome to bring a Tudor costume in with them to change into for the afternoon – they must wear uniform in the morning as it is leavers and class photos!!! There is a PDF attached to this email with some ideas for costumes (you may recognise some of the faces) – a home-made costume is perfectly fine, you do not need to buy a costume! The group are not charging for the visit but they are raising money to provide a seriously ill child specialist treatments that cost many thousands of pounds, so please, if you are able, please send a donation in on the day. Thank you.

NSPCC Assembly – We joined in a special assembly this week, introduced by Ant and Dec, organised by the NSPCC about speaking out when something bad is happening. Age appropriate conversations are taking part in the classes also as part of our safeguarding policy. If you have any questions about this, please do speak to your child’s class teacher or email in.

Class Swap Day – In preparation for the changes ahead, we will be holding our usual class swap morning on 13th July. This will be an opportunity for children to spend time with their class teachers for September and get to know some of the children they will be working with next year. Children will be lining up on the playground so they can be greeted by their teacher as a group before going into class together. Please arrive at the usual time

Leavers Assembly – We will be holding our annual leavers assembly at 9am on 19th July at St Mary's Church.  This will give us an opportunity to say goodbye to our wonderful Year 6 pupils. We are gathering as a whole school for this event but unfortunately, are only able to offer an invitation to Year 6 parents this year. We are currently awaiting numbers from the church but for now we anticipate a maximum of 2 family members per Year 6 child. We will also invite a parent for any children due to receive a special award as part of this service. All children will need to be dropped at the church at their usual start time please. A member of staff will be at the church entrance to meet children so there is no need for you to park up. We will be recording the service for others to watch at a later time if they wish to.

Year 4 Activity Day – Year 4 activity day will be going ahead on 7th July. It will be held at Copdock School and we will be using the minibus to transport children on the day. The children will be involved in a range of outdoor activities, including preparation of their own tea! The event will finish by 7pm and parents will need to collect from Copdock School via the main gate. Children need to come into school in comfortable clothes and trainers, appropriate for the weather on the day. As they will be outdoors a raincoat will be useful, just in case. If you have any questions about the day, please email them in for Mrs North’s attention.

Road Safety – We have had reports of another near miss, please ensure your children walk with you along the road. Thank you.

New Website – Get The App! – The eagle-eyed among you will have noticed that our website has undergone a re-design.  We hope you like the new format and will find it easy to navigate.  This is a great opportunity to encourage you to download the app if you haven't already done so.  As you can imagine, we will become more and more reliant on the website as a form of communication between school and home, and the app means you will receive notifications faster about all sorts of things, including upcoming events such as parents' consultations and so on.  We are also hoping to make payments available for various things via the app, which we know a lot of you would appreciate!
