Bentley Weekly Update 18/01/19

Cinderella Trip – We had an amazing time at the Wolsey Theatre this week! Hopefully your children have been telling you all about the fun we had and how much they enjoyed the ice lollies they bought from their enterprise fund.

Educate and Celebrate Bake Off – Congratulations to Laura in year 3, whose design received enough public votes to win her a place at the finals in London. A team of pupils from Bentley and Copdock (who also got into the final with one of their designs) will travel to London with Mrs Rudge to take part in the event; we will let you know how they get on.

Writing Workshop for parents – The Writing Workshop for parents of children in all years is happening next week, on Wednesday, from 6pm to 7pm at Copdock School. Please see last newsletter for info.

Newspaper – We are starting to run a little low again on newspaper for the chickens. We would be grateful for any old newspapers that you have finished with. Thank you.

Lego in the Nurture Area – Every lunchtime, a lovely nurture area is set up for children who would like a bit of space away from playing on the playground or running around. The children have said that they would like some more Lego in the box, in particular Lego people. We know it is very expensive stuff, but if you have any spare Lego at home that you no longer need and could donate, we would be very grateful.

PTA Meeting – Just a quick reminder that there will be a PTA meeting on Friday after school; Mrs Rudge will be running a crèche.

Dog Waste and Control – Dogs at the gate at the end of the school day have become a very welcome and daily sight. It is great that so many families are taking the journey to school as an opportunity to walk their furry friends and prevent another car trying to get parked. We want to encourage this but please, please ensure any waste your dog produces is picked up straight away and that your dog/s is well under control. A rather large pile of dog poo was left right in front of the main pedestrian gate earlier this week. Thankfully another parent saw it and picked it up before a child or anyone else stepped in it. More worryingly however, we had a member of the public and their dog put in a horrible position this week, when one of the dogs at the gate slipped their collar and went for them. Thankfully, there were no serious injuries, just scratches, but the incident was reported to the police. It is essential that any dog brought into contact with pupils is friendly, obedient and well controlled. The last thing anyone wants is an injury to a child from a dog being brought to the school. We realise that the above does not apply to the vast majority of dog owners at this school.
