Bentley Weekly Update 16/11/18

Children in Need – The children all looked fabulous in their rainbow colours today. We were also blown away with the number of cakes we had in for the cake competition and raffle in aid of Children in Need. A big thank you to all the families who contributed to the day. Do take a look at the website if you get a chance, there are some lovely pictures on there of the day. Thank you to the parents and grandparents of the School Council children, who made the cakes that all the pupils decorated today. We had great fun icing them.

Eco Council – Eco Council would like to thank everyone who came to their disco, it raised enough money to finally buy the new chicken coop we needed. They would also like to say a HUGE thank you to Spike (Kasper’s Dad) who spent an entire day building the coop, dragging out the concrete slabs and restructuring the whole layout around the chickens. As a school we are very lucky to have such amazing and generous parents.

Non-uniform day – As mentioned previously, next Friday will be a non-uniform day in return for donations to the tombola and lucky dip for the Christmas Fayre. Please see the email from Mrs Robinson that was sent out on Monday with lots of information about the Christmas Fayre and items School Council are hoping to get for these stalls.

Singing at the Village Hall – We have been invited to sing at Bentley Village Hall at 7pm on Thursday 13th December. Children will be rehearsing the carols that they will perform; it would be lovely if as many families as possible could come along and support this lovely annual event.

Healthy Café – Wolves healthy café this week was a resounding success! We couldn’t believe how many people turned up to support the venture. A massive thank you to everyone who gave their time to come along and try the children’s healthy culinary delights. We also had a visit from Natalia’s Dad, Lukasz, who talked to us about being a chef. The children asked a dizzying number of questions which he answered brilliantly. Perhaps he inspired the next Nigella Lawson or Jamie Oliver. The café made a staggering £46.40 profit! Thank you all!

Parent Consultations – Parent Consultation appointments, for children in years 1-6, are now available to book on the school website. You will need your parent login details. If you have forgotten these, your username will be your email address and your password can be reset if required. If you have any problems, please contact the school office. Reception parents will have their termly meetings with Mrs Rudge on later dates.

School Office – Please be aware that there will be limited cover in the school office next Wednesday. There will be people on site to take calls but non urgent emails etc may not be dealt with until the next day.

Online Resources – The majority of pupils in years 1-6 have been making good use of Times Tables Rockstars and Spelling Shed. Please support your child to go online and practice the tasks that have been set for them.

PTA News - Thank you to all who attended last week's AGM meeting. It was great to hear that we have raised an incredible £6000 over the last year! We are so very grateful to all parents, grandparents, staff and friends for their time, contributions and attendance at our events. The donations we have made to school have made a huge difference to our children here. A full report is on the school website under the Bentley PTA tab. We welcome Amy Baalham & Sarah Hawley as committee officers, alongside Aimee Louis, who is continuing on as chair. We look forward to the next year of fundraising! Bentley School PTA.

Coffee and Chat – Parents are welcome into school at 2pm on Monday 3rd December to join Mrs Rudge for tea/coffee and a mince pie in the hall. She will be sharing some school updates and a chance to chat before the tree service.
