Bentley Weekly Update 12/10/18

Walk to School Day – What a great success! Thank you to all those parents who brought their children along to take part. We had a huge proportion of the school walking down from the memorial. The impact on parking was a real bonus and we would love to make it a regular event. If any parents out there would be willing to organise a regular walking train, we would love to hear from you!

Pantomime Time …. Oh no it isn’t…..oh yes it is! – Bit of advance notice for you, on Wednesday 16th January, we will be taking the whole school to see the Rock and Roll Cinderella Pantomime at the Wolsey Theatre. We wanted to let you know early in case you were thinking of booking up yourselves. More information will follow.

PTA News We are very grateful and excited to tell you the race night made a grand total profit of £588.94! A big thank you to all that came along, helped set up, bought horses, ran the bar, sourced the nibbles & spent money! A letter formally inviting you all to the AGM on Friday 9th November and a list of what PTA funds have been spent on in the last 12 months, can be found by copying and pasting this link http://www.bentleycopdock.co.uk/serve_file/287433 Alternatively, if you require a paper copy please let Aimee know.

We have such supportive and positive parents here at Bentley and we are so glad that so many people get involved in the events organised. May we please remind you however, that the PTA Facebook page is for sharing information and ideas on fundraising etc and should not be used as a platform for personal comments, especially those that are derogatory about other people. All comments are vetted before being posted and negative and / or offensive posts will not be put up on the site. Thankfully these issues come from a tiny minority and we are thrilled that the page is being used in such a positive way by so many families. Thank you.

Christmas Cake Club – The rather marvellous Sandra Mehen has agreed to again brave taking on the ever popular annual Christmas Cake Club for those children in KS2 (Hedgehogs and Adders). A letter with all the information will be emailed out at the start of next week.

Year 6 Measurement Checks – A member of the school nursing team will be coming in on Wednesday 31st October to carry out the National Measurements Program for pupils in year 6. You have been sent information about this by email; please note you need to opt out if you do not wish for your child to be part of the measurement program.

Halloween Disco – Eco council report that they have sold a good many tickets already for this exciting event. Tickets will be available until next Thursday so that we have an accurate number for the event. As well as dancing, there will be games with a chance to win prizes, face painting and a sweet stall. Tickets are available from the school office.

Memorial Service – We will be walking to the memorial on Thursday 8th November at 10:50am for a special memorial service. As ever we would invite you all to join us if you can.
