PTA Update – The PTA have had so much fun creating the Fathers’ Day pictures with the children this week. They all look fantastic! Pictures will be sent home with the children next week. As of next week (18th June) we will be holding 'Frozen Fridays'. Ice creams and lollies will be available to pre order every Friday! They will be handed out to the children at the end of the school day.
Unfortunately, due to Covid restrictions, there cannot be any after school play, but why not park at the top by the memorial and enjoy your ice creams on the way! Siblings are welcome to order too! If your child has allergies, please let the PTA know and we can cater to this. More info on how to order will be sent out next week.
Summer Football Camp – Following on from the successful football camp during half term, Football Development East are planning a second one during the summer holidays! It will again only be open to children of Bentley and Copdock schools and will be held on Tuesday 10th August on the school field here at Bentley. Places can be booked by either scanning the QR code on the flyer attached or by visiting https://www.footballdevelopmenteast.co.uk/product-page/bentley-summer-camp
It will be open to pupils in all year groups again, including current Year 6.
Behaviour Policy – Staff and children have been involved in reviewing our behaviour policy in the past few weeks. School Council met together and then have continued discussions in class and assembly with the wider school. Feedback from the children will be used to make a couple of amendments. If you would like to share your views, please respond by Friday 18th June so we can consider parental contributions too. Our current policy is available here.
This is what the children said...
- Children agreed with the acknowledgements referenced in the Promoting Positive Behaviour section and enjoyed access to 'Golden Time' in younger classes at Bentley. We agreed to add this to the options for class teachers to use across the school as required.
- For whole class recognition of positive learning, children would like extra playtime as an example of something they could achieve.
- The traffic light system and the stages that help children to make positive choices, as well as the consequences for each stage worked well and was effective for most children. It was perceived that some children did not care about being on the amber/red light and we will discuss this further with classes.
- It was agreed to make it clearer that termly class rewards will only be accessible if children achieve the agreed number of brain stickers for good learning behaviour. This would ensure it promoted positive approaches with all children but also make it fair to those who work hard to do their best and earn the celebration of learning.
- Sanctions are mentioned under the Challenging Inappropriate Behaviour section and children agreed with the disciplinary steps. We agreed to add that children might be tasked with a particular job to put something positive back into the school i.e. creating a positive poster, litter picking. This would allow children to show others they are making a positive difference as a way of apology.
Suitcase Library – Do you have a tired suitcase that is longer required?
We are still hoping to find a couple of old suitcases for use as outdoor libraries. Please spread the word and let us know if you can help. Thank you
