Bentley Weekly Update 10/9/21

Welcome to the end of the first full week in school. What a week!

We would like to thank everyone for their support this week and send our best wishes to those of you recovering.

The table below highlights some of our special weekly news to be shared with you.
Learners of the week - each week we choose two children who have demonstrated good learning behaviours within our theme, this week it is about enjoying your learning. These children get a special certificate in our sharing assembly.
Values certificates ?- each half term we have a value to explore in our collective worship. Information about our values can be found on the website here. This half term our value is 'thankfulness' and certificates are awarded to children demonstrating this in their behaviour.
Words of the week? - each week children discuss new words, their meaning and how they can use them in their learning and discussions. Please encourage your children to use these words at home and tell you about the origin of the word and what it means.

Swimming
Year 3/4 and certain children in Y5/6 will be swimming on MONDAY. It is essential that we receive your permission please before they swim so later today would be great or Monday am at the latest if not done so already. The letter sent home is also available on the website hereChildren can come to school in uniform instead of PE kit as swimming will replace their PE lesson.

Assemblies
?Sharing assemblies will begin on Friday 17th September. Please see the attached schedule for when your child will be sharing their learning to the rest of the school. All children will share twice during the year and we will be holding special class assemblies throughout the year. We look forward to welcoming parents into school on these Friday assemblies but please let us know if you hope to come in person so we can plan accordingly. The link for these meetings will be the same each week if you are joining us remotely. Please make sure you add your name and child's name in brackets so we can identify you easily eg, Jo (Anna). Click here for the link

Partnership meeting and Home-school Agreement
We look forward to seeing you all at our class welcome meetings on Wednesday 15th September. If you need a reminder about times, see our website letters page here
Schools and parents have a shared priority and responsibility to help and support their children achieve the very best they can.  Our Home School Agreement highlights the contributions we can all make to ensure this is possible. It also explains the important role that the children can play too. Please read this with your child and sign our online form to show your commitment to working in partnership.

Packed lunches - important
?Please ensure all lunches are peanut free as we do have some children in school with allergies. This will help us to ensure a safe environment for all children. Thank you!

Football Club
We are hoping to begin our after school club for KS2 children on Thursday next week. More information will be sent out soon.

Parent Governor vacancy
?We have a new vacancy for a parent governor and would welcome any interested parents to make contact with the school to discuss this further. Unfortunately Mrs Louise Moxon has resigned her position due to a change in job and can no longer commit to the role. Information about the role of a Governor can be found here
We will be sending out nomination forms soon so please do give it some consideration as it is an important role in supporting our federation leadership.

PTA Meeting
Our next PTA meeting will be held by zoom on 23rd September 2-2.45pm. You can access the meeting via this link. We hope to see you there!

Bentley School's Christian Ethos

"Know that I am with you always," Matthew 28:20 We encourage the spiritual, social, moral and cultural development of the school family by embedding Christian values into everyday life. Our vision is for all children to be confident individuals, successful learners and responsible citizens who are well equipped for future life, knowing that God is with them always.
