Bentley Weekly Update 07.07.17

Wow it’s warm! Believe it or not, in this heat, some children are still not bringing in water bottles! PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE make sure your child has a drinks bottle with them every day. Talking of drinks bottles………..

Sports Bottle Amnesty – The school have a set of sports water bottles for taking to events with us. Recently, many children have not brought in drinks bottles and have borrowed the sports ones. We are now missing 7. Please take some time to have a look round at home in case it has ended up there by mistake, their return would be very much appreciated. Thank you.

Maths Bags – Please return all Maths Bags and their contents by next week. We hope you have found them a useful tool again this year, the feedback we have had from parents and children has been positive. We need these in as soon as possible to get them ready for next year. In any event, any that have not been returned by next Friday will be charged for.

Reading and Library Books – Like the Maths Bags, these need to be returned by next week. Next Friday will be the last reading check for stickers and any outstanding library books will be need to be paid for.

Wildlife Art Competition – Quick reminder that any entries to the SESAW art competition need to be handed in to Mrs Rudge by Friday 14th July along with £1 entry (funds to go to the charity). Please see the posters on the playground and the email that was sent home for details.

Under 9s Quad Kids – Well done to those children in years 3 and 4 who took part in this ‘mini-olympics’ event. We were particularly impressed by your perseverance and determination. The children participated in a number of sports and carried on Bentley’s great reputation for sportsmanship!

Cricket All-Stars - Children from both schools were extremely fortunate to be invited to take part in a training session with the coaches from the Lashings All-Star cricket team this week. Selected pupils spent the day training with them before seeing the grand opening of the new pavilion at Copdock Cricket Club and watching a match between Copdock and the All-Stars. We were in awe of the level they played at and are very grateful to them for giving us the opportunity to watch and to train with them.

PE Kits – Children still need their PE kits in every day please. A number of children again this week either had items or whole kits missing but it was much better, thank you.

Transition days – Year 6 pupils travelled to East Bergholt High School twice this week; on Wednesday, those transitioning to EBHS in September went and met their new class mates and spent the day in lessons at the High School and all of year 6 took part in a computer science day on Thursday. Other children in other year groups went in to their new class rooms at Bentley on Wednesday morning, all in preparation for September. The class structure for next year is confirmed as:
