Dangerous Incidents – Thank you to all those parents who have shared their concerns about the driving and parking outside the school. We have received a number of calls and had people in to the school expressing their worries about child safety at drop off and pick up times. There have been three incidents in just the last week, 2 of which resulted in very near misses that could easily have resulted in serious injury or a fatality. The first incident was when 2 people parked on the zig-zag lines outside the school last Friday, which blocked the view when a member of staff tried to get out of the carpark, with a car full of children, to get to the after school club. Because of the selfish and dangerous parking of these individuals, the member of staff had to manoeuvre awkwardly to get out of the car park and was unable to see oncoming vehicles. This resulted in a near collision whilst trying to get round past one of these vehicles. The second incident occurred as a result of a parent speeding up the road away from the school and a child only just managed to jump into their car and close the door by a split second, before they would have been hit by the car and / or the car door ripped off. This as you can imagine was very distressing and scary for that child and their family. The third incident resulted in one of the children being absolutely drenched when a parent drove at speed past them through the big puddle on the bend. The child was ever so upset as you can imagine and it is doubly frustrating as this child is one of those who walks to the memorial to try to help the parking issues at the school. We need to deal with this effectively and collaboratively; the vast majority of families share our worries and would like to see a positive solution. The dangerous parking last Friday was reported to the police and you may have seen that we were visited by a police officer earlier this week. We will be monitoring the situation and any reports from parents about dangerous driving and or parking will be recorded. Vehicles parked on the zigzag lines will be photographed and reported to the police. We would also urge concerned parents to call 101 to report, in particular, dangerous driving. The children at this school are your children – the zigzag Keep Clear markings and 20mph speed limit are for the protection of the children. The children are just as concerned as the adults and head pupils will be working with the other pupils to find a way of addressing these issues with persistent offenders. Suffolk Police are now involved and they have written a letter to be sent out to parents about parking on the zigzags. A copy of which will be put on the notice board. Thank you again to all those families who meet their children at the memorial, or in the Baptist Church Carpark or at the pub car park. We are very grateful to the church and the pub for allowing parents to use their carparks at drop off and pick up time. Thank you also to the vast majority of families who park and drive considerately and safely.

Early Family Assembly 20th March Reminder - Due to the PTA Mothers’ Day Afternoon Tea, Family Assembly on Friday 20th March will be at 9:00am.

Tag Rugby – There is some speculation at the moment that the Tag Rugby comp to be held on Monday may not go ahead due to the weather. The organisers will make a decision at 10am and we will let parents know as soon as we do.

Movie Night – Tickets for the PTA Movie Night are now on sale and are available from Aimee (Poppy, Hugo and Molly’s mum) or from the school office.

Reading Challenge Come on Hedgehogs!

2 children in Adders did not achieve 5 reads - Star Class again this week

6 children in Wolves did not achieve 5 reads – this is twice as many as last week

7 children in Hedgehogs did not achieve 5 reads (this is an improvement on previous weeks)

Please record your child’s reads and support them to do as much as possible (older children can record their own reads).

After School Club – This half term the after school club on Tuesdays will be Multi-sports for years R-4. So far only a couple of children have signed up. If your child would like to take part, please speak to the office.

World Book Day – What amazing ideas families came up with! The winners in each class were:

Wolves – 1st Place – Kasper, 2nd Place – Malachi

Hedgehogs – 1st Place – Tali, 2nd Place – Faith

Adders – 1st Place – Isabelle, 2nd Place – Myles
