Bentley Weekly Update 02/10/20

It has been a lovely week here at school and we have the opportunity to thank our lovely families for their generosity:

MacMillan

Thank you to everybody who bought a square on our You Sank My Tea Clipper game and for all those 50 pences that came into class for decorating biscuits. Kerry (Joey's mum) and Luisa (Evie's mum) each win a chocolate orange for getting the ends of the clipper. The direct hit was on square F6 and the winners are Sue and Spike (Kasper's parents) who win the £20 cash prize! Congratulations. The total raised that will be sent to the charity was a wonderful £82! Thank you all.

It was great to see so many families join our MacMillan event remotely, we hope you enjoyed the children's performances. If you missed the entertainment, you can see them here:

Harvest Festival

Our families again showed their sharing nature by sending in lots of food donations for Harvest. These items will all be delivered to West Villa, a charity supporting homeless families in Ipswich, by Rev Don and Sandra Mehen who will add it to the donations received from the community. Thank you all.

Morning Arrivals

We have had some super positive feedback about the staggered starts in the morning, it has made a HUGE difference to the parking situation. As the weather starts to deteriorate, we anticipate a greater number of cars outside the front of the school. Please drop your child at their allotted time and leave promptly to try to prevent the parking issues we all encountered here before lockdown. We will not be able to let children in early on rainy days, so please don't drop them too early and make sure they have a rain coat. Please also ensure you join the end of the line when you arrive, we have had parents and children bunching up at the front of the line making it very difficult to maintain social distancing for families. We appreciate it is lovely to catch up with other parents, but please support us to keep everyone safe.

Virtual Inter-school Cross Country Competition

On Wednesday 7th October we will be taking part in a virtual competition against other schools in the pyramid. Weather permitting, we will all go up to the field; all children are welcome to take part but some have already said they would like to count laps or do the time keeping. All children to come to school in PE kit this day. The other schools will be doing the same on their sites and then we will compare times and a winning school will be declared!

Free Webinars

We are pleased to share information about an opportunity for parents & carers to join a series of FREE live webinars over the coming months to help support you with the mental health challenges that arise as a result of the full return to school.  Our first set of webinars will focus on the ripple effects of resilience and trauma. These will then be used to highlight issues that can be addressed in future webinars, and build on other resources that have been made available locally.

Booking your place:

The webinars can be booked using the Eventbrite links below.

Parent & Carer Webinar - 7pm, 12th November: Click here

There are also a range of tips and advice for parents available through Public Health England’s new #EveryMindMatters campaign.

Casual Midday Supervisor Vacancy

We potentially have a vacancy for a casual midday supervisor position coming up. If you would like to find out more / apply, please call the office.

And finally......

A very happy birthday to our lovely Mrs Lawrance who is celebrating a big one this weekend! I'll give you a clue: The square root of 36 multiplied by half the number of children in Adders Class. Don't tell her I told you ðŸ™‚

Have a super (even if stormy) weekend.

The Bentley Team

Bentley School's Christian Ethos

"Know that I am with you always," Matthew 28:20 We encourage the spiritual, social, moral and cultural development of the school family by embedding Christian values into everyday life. Our vision is for all children to be confident individuals, successful learners and responsible citizens who are well equipped for future life, knowing that God is with them always.
