Bentley Weekly Update - 15/06/18

Cars speeding near the school – We have had a number of reports of parents driving at high speeds / dangerously outside and near the school. This has resulted in some ‘near misses’ that could have resulted in children walking to school being seriously injured. We all want to keep our children safe, so please help us create a safe environment for our children and remember “20’s Plenty” on the roads around our school. We realise that the road turns into National Speed Limit just past the school, but children living in that direction walk on that narrow bit of road, with all those blind bends and are scared of how some parents are driving past them, so please help us to keep all children safe from harm. Thank you.

Wolves class habitat project - Due: 25th June 2018

In Science we have been learning about different animals’ habitats. We have explored the different mini-beasts which live around our school grounds and learnt about their habitats.

Over the next few weeks I would like you to take some time to visit an animal’s habitat, this could be in your garden, in a local wood or down the park (wherever you choose!); whilst you are there have a careful look at the habitat, see if you can identify any of the plants, trees, mini-beasts or insects.

You can represent your findings in any way you choose (here are some suggestions):

  • Labelled photographs of the habitat

  • Drawings of the habitat

  • A collage of the habitat

  • A model of the habitat (maybe in a shoe box)

  • Photos of animals which live in the habitat

  • A poster explaining about the habitat you have explored

Have fun exploring but remember that you must be careful not to harm the animals’ habitats in anyway.

I cannot wait to see what you create!

Cathedral Visit – We are all set for our whole school visit next Tuesday. Every child will need a packed lunch, a water bottle, sun cream / hat or rain coat depending on weather on the day. Uniform will need to be worn on the day.

Sports Day – Just to clarify, the sports day (5th July) will be held on the school field, not at the school itself.

Non-Uniform Day Friday – Quick reminder that next Friday will be a non-uniform day (if your child would like to take part) in return for donations for the traditional tombola.

PTA Summer Fete – Many thanks to those parents and teachers who have kindly volunteered to run a stall at the summer fete this year. We still have a number of gaps though and we are worried that if we can’t get them covered, we will have to shut the stalls down. We need cover for the following:

Bouncy castles – 1:30 – 3

Coconut shy – 1:30 – 3

Crockery smash – 1:30 – 3

We also need a willing parent, teacher or governor to make some announcements throughout the afternoon.

If you can help with any of these, please either speak to Aimee Louis or email into the school. Thank you in anticipation – The PTA
