This week, it is Children's Mental Health Week and Internet Safety Day.

This years theme for Children's Mental Health week is, 'Growing Together'. We will be encouraging children (and adults) to consider how they have grown, and how they can help others to grow. I have attached our timetable of activities that we will follow throughout the week.

On Wednesday afternoon we will be learning about Safer Internet Day. It is celebrated globally in February each year to promote the safe and positive use of digital technology for children and young people, and to inspire a national conversation about using technology responsibly, respectfully, critically, and creatively. The children will be learning about the four areas of risk: content, contact, conduct and commerce and will be finding out how to keep safe.

To support maths arithmetic strategies, there is a free app you can download. It is engaging, fun for children and it builds fluency and skill in addition and subtraction. It's predominantly aimed at KS1, however, I know it will support some children in Woodpeckers as it covers the quick mental arithmetic strategies we learn and use everyday. Please remember Homework is due in on Tuesday and this includes the weekly literacy activity as well as the chosen weekly activity. Again, thank you all for the amazing effort put into the homework this half term. This is definitely working really well and we will continue with this method of homework- I will be sending out the new grid for next half term next week :).

Lastly, Can i please remind you all that you need to be recording your 5 reads each week. We keep a record of this in class and it is very clear which children are and are not reading 5 times. This does not always have to be your class book, it could  be reading a comic, a home book, the curriculum visions (link on the homework sheet) or even reading with a family member. I will be keeping a close eye on this and speaking to individual children to encourage this.

Have a lovely week.
