Squirrels 12.04.2021

Date: 31st Mar 2021 @ 7:30pm

Welcome to a new term and a new learning week!

We hope you had a good Easter, enjoyed lots of chocolate and hot cross buns, as well as spending time with family.

This week, we are beginning our new topic which has geography as the main focus and art and science as enhancers.  We will be learning about Australia, its climate and physical features as well as wildlife.  We will also be comparing it to Antartica.

Please look at out curriculum map to find out more about the learning Squirrels will experience this term.

Also, please check this blog daily as I will post messages and homework here to support communication.

Best wishes,

Heidi and Charlie

Monday 12th April

The children have settled back really well and enjoyed the introduction of their new topic, Down Under!  We have collected in homework books and will give out new homework on Friday.  The homework will be explained on this blog so please check here.  Children who were attending maths/writing clubs will continue this half term unless we contact you otherwise.  New reading books will be given out tomorrow so please ensure your child has their books in school to hand in.

Thursday 15th April

The children have had a great afternoon learning how to draw feathers and fur.  They learned how to draw a koala bear and gave each other positive and supportive feedback to help them improve their sketches. Remember, our art exhibition will be shown tomorrow in family sharinf assembly.

Friday 16th April

All children have got spellings today and will be tested next Friday.  Tests are done in the back of the homework books so you can see how well your child did and what you need to practise at home.  Please continue to practise the number challenge as we will also be assessing this each Friday.  When your child moves up to a new challenge, we will write a note in the homework book for you. We are catching up on the reading challenge and certificates so please continue to read at least 5 x week.  Year 2 have additional maths and need to practise adding 2 digit numbers which will be very important for Year 3.

Have a lovely weekend!
