Kittens 19.10.20

Date: 17th Oct 2020 @ 7:11pm

Bonjour Kittens,

welcome to a new week of learning, our last before half term! This week our learning behaviour is 'enjoy your learning'. I have loved watching you all enjoy your learning this half term, gaining more confidence and developing your skills. Well done!

Home learning:

Yr 1 - Please continue to log on to Spelling Shed to help you to learn this week's spellings. Our 'reading challenge' continues so to get your weekly stars, read at least 5 times this week and ask a grown-up to sign your yellow book.

Don't forget to go over your word wall words (spot words) before you read your books. Can you spot any of these in the books you are reading? Don't forget to just say them, rather than blend. This will help with your fluency.

In Maths, we are learning to name common 2D shapes and talk about how many sides and vertices (corners) they have. I have included a colouring sheet for each night to consolidate this learning at home.

I have made another Phase 3 phonic booklet for you to complete at home this week. There is more of a focus on spelling words that include our digraphs and trigraphs. Please complete the following pages this week...

Monday -  ch / sh

Tuesday - th / ai  - 2D shapes, rocket colouring

Wednesday - ee / igh  - 2D shapes, house colouring

Thursday - oa/oo  -  2D shapes, pig colouring

Friday - ar/ow  - 2D shapes, train colouring

Reception

Please go over your flashcards daily with a grown up. Click here to the link to our Jolly Phonic songs. You will have found simple words and pictures in your reading folder on Friday. These are to help you practise your oral blending skills and to read simple words.

Oral blending - just use the pictures. Ask a grown up to sound talk a picture for you e.g. d-o-g. Can you find the picture by orally blending all the sounds together? Can you do it for your grown up, can you chop the word up for them to find?

Reading simple words - match the words to the pictures. Don't forget, 'when we read and write, we go from left to right!'

Take a look at your learning from last week and talk to your grown-ups about the things you can remember.

Grown-ups will also find out more information to help you with your sounds using the previous link below.
