Date: 18th Apr 2022 @ 9:37pm

Welcome Back Hedgehog families,

We hope you had a restful and fun Easter holiday.

Our learning behaviour of the week is, 'Try New Things' and our value is 'Friendship'.

Vocabulary words this week are: 'perspective' and 'authority'.

Reminders:

PE Kits to be worn on Monday if you are not swimming and PE kits on Wednesday.

This half term we are moving on to our new topic, 'Let it Grow'. We will be learning about plants in science, personal safety in PSHE, in art, we are examining in detail parts of a flower and focusing on painting techniques of overpainting and wet on-wet, in RE we will enquire, 'What do Chrisitans mean when they talk about the Kingdom of God?', in IT we will be programming a sequence of sounds through scratch and on our final week of the half term, we will be celebrating the Queen's Jubilee. Please see the curriculum map attached below for further information.

Thursday 28th May - We will be attending the Suffolk Farm Fair Visit. We will be transporting the children and it is within the school day. Please ensure your child is wearing their school uniform with trainers, they have a packed lunch, drinks bottle and appropriate clothes for the weather either a coat, suncream or sun-hat depending what the weather is doing that day.

Homework and spellings have now changed to a Friday with Mrs North. I will no longer be testing all 10 spelling words, instead, I will choose 5 of the weekly words and place them into dictated sentences to ensure the children are able to apply the spelling they are learning.

Homework Due in Friday 6th May

  1. Complete Spring Workout 7 of the CGP weekly maths and arithmetic books.
  2. TTR twice a week for 10 minutes or try Hit the Button https://www.topmarks.co.uk/maths-games/hit-the-button to practise times tables.
  3. Practise spellings on Spelling Shed at least 3 x 10 minutes a week on the weekly words and Year 3 and 4 statutory words – the next column of words have been stuck in the children's logbooks and I have assigned them on Spelling Shed.
  4. As part of our science topic about plants, I would like the children to logon to curriculum visions - logins are at the front of their logbooks. Search, ‘Plants’, select ‘Science Portal’, select the book ‘The Plant Book’. Read the section. ‘The Parts of a Plant’, Pages 6-17. This will support the children in their science learning. This reading can count towards their 5 reads for the week.
  5. Complete 5 reads and parents to sign ready for Friday.

Have a lovely week,

Mrs North and Mrs Duff
