Foxes Week beginning 7/9/20

Date: 6th Sep 2020 @ 9:29am

Good morning Foxes Class and Parents.

I hope you all had a good weekend and managed to enjoy some family time.

I will now be starting a weekly blog which I will add to throughout the week to keep you up to date with anything you may need to know.

PE days are Tuesdays and Thursdays and you will need to come to school in your PE kit. Please remember some warmer clothes such as a fleece and joggers as PE will be outside as much as possible. These should be a plain colour if possible.

Homework will be a CGP grammar book and homework will be set daily following teaching in school. It should take no more than 5-10 minutes but must be completed each night ready for the next day. This is to ensure you are confident with the grammar from last year before we move on. Therefore, year 5 have a year 4 book. Year 6 you have a year 6 book as the grammar is for year 5/6. I will add to the blog the page numbers to be completed. There will also be weekly spellings to practice using Spelling Shed. These will be set and tested on Tuesdays. In the front of your diary is the year 5/6 spelling list, this half term will be focusing on the first column so please keep practising these.

Reading will remain an essential part of daily homework. It is crucial that you read daily either on your own or with an adult. You will receive a Foxes reading bingo sheet with lots of quality books on. The challenge is to see how many you can read before leaving year 6. You can read these alone, with an adult or listen to them as an audio book. Good quality texts are the best way to improve your cross curricular skills so please accept the challenge. remember to read 5 times and a week and get your adult to record this in your diary.

Water bottles should be clear plastic and not too big if you want to keep them on your desk. Unfortunately, metal bottles and larger bottles can be a distraction in class and therefore, should be kept in your locker. Only water is to be drunk in the classroom.

Thank you all again for such a positive start to the new and slightly different school year. If you continue this attitude then I am sure we will have a successful year. If parents have any questions about anything in these blogs, you can ask them on here and I will reply to you as soon as I can.
