Foxes 31/3/20

Morning Foxes Class and all your families

I really hope you are still keeping well and coping under these unusual circumstances.

Thankfully the weather seems to have cheered up today again. I think we had every sort of weather on Sunday from sun to hail and even a bit of sleet.

I was in school yesterday and started to prepare your next printed packs for after Easter. I will be sending out more focused teaching on the areas we have not covered. I have tried to include some helpful teaching points and will look for online guides to support both children and parents.

I have had several discussions/emails with some parents and I am really impressed with how you have all pulled together to support each other with the learning. I do appreciate this is hard but your supportive comments about each other and towards school have been really appreciated. I really do wish I was back in school with all of you rather than trying to support from afar.

So you have 3 more 'school' days before the Easter break. So over these days please spend time going through any of the CGP/ower maths books you have for English and Maths. Remember if there is something you are not sure of you can email me. You should have more than enough for 3 days.

Make sure you continue to read everyday for at least 30 minutes either on your own or with an adult.

Access Spelling Shed as I see some of you have still not done that at all.

Keep up with your journal (you should be getting a letter from the Prime Minister which maybe you could copy and add to it if your adults agree).

You could write a descriptive story about arriving at a train station after being evacuated to the countryside (Remember the picture we studied). If you're reading Goodnight Mister Tom that will help. Write a story about some of your new adventures. Many children that were evacuated didn't know what sheep and cows were before arriving in the country so try to imagine what would have been strange for you.

I've just read Carrie's War again which is a great story about being evacuated, I know the libraries are shut but it may be something to look for once they are open again.

In topic we should be looking at reproduction in mammals. I am happy to try and cover that in school if and when we do get back alongside the PSHE programme.

However, you could look at an interview with Jane Goodall to look at her work with chimpanzees

Over the holidays you could try and make some form of model/collage/picture linked to evacuation. Its up to you as you are not expected to work over the holidays.

Great to have seen cooking/gardening/new sports all being tried. Keep it up!!!

Finally children, I did ask all of you to respond to the blogs. Some of you are but some have not posted anything/anywhere on the school site. or contacted me via email. It is important that you are in touch with me somehow so I know you are accessing my posts and that I know you and your family are well. I would be really grateful if you haven't already done so that you respond to this blog so I know you have seen it.

Have a great day, missing you all lots.

Take care

Mrs Windmill smiley
